Bonnet vent's and injectors problem ?

I was talking to a Ex-jaguar machanic the other day about the vent/injector problem he said that the vents do next to nothing for cooling all the heat comes our from under the bonnet by the windscreen wipers so block the vents off themselves. What do you guys think? Well looking at them this afternoon I'm sure they are just drain holes there's no way they could shift a lot of air?

Yes, the bonnet vents do very little for actual cooling.
The best way to help the engine cool is to ditch the plastic cover in warmer weather - the SVR doesn’t have one anyway, so it’s a no-brainer.
And if you go for a spirited drive then lift the bonnet for a while on arrival back home.

Why would Jaguar fit them as open vents if they served no operational function?

The early models allow visibility of the ‘supercharged’ logo which could be argued as reason for location and being open, but not the later variants which remain open. Even the 2021 has them with a different design to both improve ventilation and reduce water ingress.

Personally I’d leave well alone and let them do their job.

They started adding vents when they built the supercharged XKRs, no vents on the n/a XK8. And they wouldn't do the first XKRs in white as they thought the heat might discolour the paint!

They look good, that's the reason.
My MY13 has the updated carbon vents and I wouldn't change them irrespective of their lack of practical use.

Does your car have the shrouded or open mesh bonnet vents? Whichever they are you shouldn't block them off.

I have the open mesh vents and if I place my hands above them after taking the car out for a decent run then park up, there's a lot of heat being released through them.

See detailed info below (the F-Type brochure pic relates to the SVR but the principle is the same)...
