Aluminium upper and lower coolant outlet pipes

Car back from service & MOT yesterday. Also had water bits replaced, water pump, thermostat plus S/C overhauled including new SC snout & coupler.

They fitted the aluminium versions. They are genuine LR but are compatible with Jaguar. Posted a couple of pictures to share part numbers.

Thanks for the info and pics including the genuine Land Rover aluminium upper and lower coolant outlet pipes (part numbers LR186859 and LR186917) which are compatible with Jaguar. On the job sheet I see the thermostat part number AJ813073 which is correct for your VIN ending K14810 and is applicable to 3.0 litre cars up to VIN ending K15251.

Peace of mind for you after having all that work done.

Any chance you could remove the plastic engine cover (if you have it fitted) and take a pic of the aluminium upper coolant outlet pipe in situ? This would be beneficial to go along with the others included in this topic.

Hi DaddyDarren,

One of the reasons I asked if you could provide a photo of the genuine aluminium upper coolant outlet pipe in situ on your car is because I searched for one and came across this https://www.jaginfo.org/threads/oem-outlet-coolant-pipes.117946/ which relates to a Jaguar XF. It shows a section of the pipe that is capped off whereas it is not capped off on the plastic upper coolant outlet pipe on my car and instead connects to the coolant expansion tank bleed hose. Could you confirm what that connection on your aluminium one is like?

I’ve attached two photos. The first one is from the link above (Jaguar XF) and the other is from my own car.

Hi Darren,

Any chance of an update? Would be good to see a photo of the genuine aluminium upper coolant outlet pipe in situ on your car showing the connection I spoke about earlier.

Cheers.

You spelt my username incorrectly....must be thinking of 1970’s & 80’s RS Fords!

😊 My F-Type was very nearly a MkII Ford Escort. Mrs J wouldn’t be seen out wearing the rally harnesses though!

Let me know if you want more 👍

Good choice with the F-Type instead of a MkII Ford Escort and I don’t blame your Mrs for not wanting to be seen wearing the rally harnesses

Thanks for the pics 👍. I can see the connection that I spoke about earlier goes to the coolant expansion tank bleed hose which is exactly as it should be.

The genuine Land Rover aluminium upper and lower coolant outlet pipes (part numbers LR186859 and LR186917) you’ve had fitted should see you right throughout ownership of the car.

Ryan Bengal changed his on YouTube the other day. The ends of the plastic pipes seem to have fractured off, but inside the recess in the engine block that the pipe fits into so seemingly without having leaked.
Good video, pretty handy guy.

Agreed

With regards to the ends of the plastic pipes that have 'fractured off' near the O-ring seals, another member recently reported it here....

The genuine replacement aluminium upper and lower coolant outlet pipes should eradicate the issue.

I've just topped up my coolant level by 250ml using the correct spec OAT coolant.

I suspect I have a leak somewhere as I have noticed a coolant smell under the bonnet after driving my car.

I would like to replace the plastic pipes with the correct aluminium parts but not sure where to purchase them from and what the correct part numbers are for my vehicle.

Mine is a 3.0 S/C engine, car number K47433 (last 6 digits of VIN) - could someone kindly point me in the direction of a parts supplier (or should I just go to my local Jag dealer?) and also the correct part numbers. I would also like to replace the plastic thermostat housing too so part number required for that please.

Check the coolant expansion tank cap to ensure its tight enough (3 clicks).

I recently had an engine coolant leak on my car and it turned out to be the thermostat as explained here...https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=9061 Yours may be the same?

The plastic upper and lower coolant outlet pipes on your car (VIN ending K47433) should be the newer style and if you’re going to replace them with the aluminium ones get them from a JLR main dealer. Firstly, give them a ring to see if Land Rover part numbers LR186859 and LR186917 are compatible with your car (Darren recently had these fitted). If they’re not, give them the part numbers that Tony posted earlier in this topic i.e. LR090630 and LR092992.

The thermostat part number for your car is AJ814048 and its made of plastic. I’m aware that there are aftermarket aluminium thermostats and I’ve previously checked with a JLR main dealer to see if there's a genuine equivalent to AJ814048 in aluminium which there isn’t. The Land Rover equivalent part number is LR117568 which is also made of plastic.

Thank you.

I have checked coolant cap is tightened correctly. There's no evidence of a leak i can see but I think I will investigate the thermostat and see if that is the cause.

My car appears to have the older design of outlet pipes.

I've just searched for part numbers LR090630 and LR092992 and they come up as plastic parts on a couple of websites.

I’m unsure why your 2018 car has the older design upper and lower coolant outlet pipes as your VIN ends with K47433. Perhaps Jaguar were still fitting them to some later models including yours? The new design plastic pipes (from VIN K40347) are shown here... https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/152.1078.2455.11486/brand/jaguar/

That maybe so but the photos that Tony provided here https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=90064#p90064 clearly show part numbers LR090630 and LR092992 which are made of aluminium.

The Land Rover part numbers that two separate JLR main dealers have confirmed to me are suitable for the F-Type are LR186859 and LR186917. Darren has already had these fitted on his car as shown earlier in this thread.

Thanks. Yep, mine has the older designed pipes.

Mine was registered on a "68" plate but I understand (from others on here) that it may have been built in late 2017 and not registered for a while for some reason. Perhaps that explains the "old" style pipe being fitted?
