Jaguar introduces new logo for the brand

Here's an interesting video on the subject. I just hope when we see the actual concept car in Miami that it is good enough to keep Jaguar alive. There are mentions by journalists online who have already seen it, that are saying 'prepare to be shocked'. My guess is that it won't be beautiful in the conventional sense, but it sounds like it could be very striking.

From that teaser image, can Jaguar really be forming a business to sell concept type cars for the road? Could this be that mad or brave? Perhaps that's the only thing to do, as cars are increasingly becoming boring Chinese appliances, as this bloke indicates.

I can never understand why EV's have to be so dull looking. The EV market has pretty much stalled worldwide and they depreciate like falling masonry too, they are just devoid of emotion or any desire. Harry Metcalfe reviewed the Porsche Macan EV this week and pretty much said ,why bother, when you can buy the same thing for half the price made in Korea. But, if Jaguar one day came out with something outrageous, akin to taking the CX75 concept forwards and available at around £100k now there's a dilemma!

Has anyone else had this thought...?

This is either a moumentally disastrous rebrand... or an absolutely genius two-phase marketing campaign.

Jaguar create all this attention with trendy, cliched woke nonsense they know will push people's buttons beause it goes against everything the brand stands for. This generates mega publicity ahead of the new model launch in Miami...

Then at that point they reveal this was all just satire as they launch into some rip-roaring, hairy-chested, best-of-British advertising that sticks two fingers up to all this nonsense and celebrates the brand's greatness.

In other words, parodying the EV market, then contrasting their product against it.

That would be truly genius marketing that would very cleverly reinforce the brand's values.

I hope like hell that's what it is, otherwise Jaguar is finished.

Nigel is on the case...

And they continue drip feeding snippets of the new car. Retractable rear facing camera at the bottom of the doors?

I'm a hard-core optimistic but when you see a man who get periods leading the marketing team, you see it's all part of an annihilation plan

If this is the rear end, it looks very like a Chrysler Crossfire. Of which Clarkson famously said, it looks like a dog taking a dump.
Not a good start.

I sold up an moved permanently to other brands some weeks ago due to the failing nearside DLR issue.

This new logo and marketing neatly extinguishes any lingering doubt about that move.

That would be amazing and I truly hope for the latter but I just have a terrible feeling this is going to be a Tesla Cybertruck that crashed through a Rolls Royce and into back of Fab1 from the Thunderbirds.

Also, if they are showing a concept car on 2nd December but then you cannot get one until 2026, then what on earth have they been doing for the past few years.

Snorting a hell of a lot of cocaine by the looks of things

I'm probably being wildly optimistic. I just can't quite get my head around why a company the size of JLR wouldn't realise that alienating their existing customer base before they've even got a product to sell to new customers is utterly mental.

Nor can I imagine any customer with six figures to spend on a high-end luxury car ever saying: "Nah, I don't want something that represents engineering quality, motoring pedigree or brand heritage thanks - I just choose cars based on inclusion and diversity."

I seriously hope this is some sort of genius marketing ploy that has gained much attention and got everyone talking about Jaguar then at the Miami launch a Jaguar appears on screen chases off all the men in pink dresses and chews up the new logo.

That reminds me of the Jaguar ad that took the p out of the Mercedes ad with a chicken - that was back in the day when Jaguar did brilliant adverts.

Here's a car journalist who thinks Kamala won, the world has turned vegan and weirdos are wealthy. I'm surprised he wasn't wearing a covid mask for that interview 😂

Nice discussion though. Thanks for the heads up.

My 14 year old son said this yeaterday. Hope you and he are correct. Would be epic. Just need Ben Kingsley back saying 'its good to be bad'. Sadly I think they are 5 years out of time hence full EV future. Lotus and Porsche recently back tracking to half way house of hybrids.

Nope, it's just a piece of trim lifting away.

Don't hold your breath for a recall.

I'm going to go out on a very long limb and say this is a really clever publicity stunt to set up the new model launch in Miami on 3 Dec.

I'm going to go even further out on a limb by saying Jaguar's relaunch strategy will actually play on the fact EVs notoriously have no soul, no character and often no heritage.

Jaguar knows it has all of these which set it apart. And by appearing to overlook this as they parody the EV market, they are actually drawing attention to these key brand values, which will be emphasised on launch.

A double bluff.

If this is the plan it's a genius campaign. If it isn't, I'll get my coat... and will be trading the F-Type in something more masculine like a Fiat 500 convertible.

Reasons I think that... the tone of the marketing patently mismatching the £100k+ Bentley/Porsche demographic they're aiming for, the cryptic tone of Jaguar's replies on social media which say there's "more to come", the branding that's so off-brand it's ridiculous, and Jaguar's recent history of excellent tongue-in-cheek ad campaigns that play up to the zeitgeist (eg Bond villain, 'it's good to be bad' campaign).

Finally, check their website - the new branding only appears on the marketing pages but not on its main pages, which isn't usually how a rebrand is launched.

I think Jaguar could have something up their sleeve in the form of a great, satirical two-phase marketing campaign. If not, that's the end of Jaguar so I hope I'm not mistaken.

Sadly, it looks my $100k+ absolutely fun to drive, gorgeous, F type will get parked in the garage. I do not drink Bud Light and now I will not drive my Jag. Probably can't sell it for anywhere near what I paid with this new garbage ad.

Where as I still think my F Type is "absolutely fun to drive and gorgeous", so I wouldn't dream of depriving myself of enjoying it. Each to our own.

And as some others have said, I expect the F type to be in more demand in the future when people can no longer get a petrol jag.

Whilst I don't understand the new direction (probably due to the concept being revealed at an art show), I was never going to spend the sort of money they want for their new cars so I'll stay enjoying what I've already got, glad I got one whilst I still could.
