Jaguar introduces new logo for the brand

I agree...except that while saying 'copy nothing' they have then gone and copied the Paris Olympics opening ceremony in their advert !

I remember watching that and thinking 'hmmmm, it's all a bit one dimensional' and then that bloke with the blue balls came on!
The advert's rubbish.
I still have hopes for the car.
I think it's going to be great.

Is there really anything they can do to the new car to differentiate it enough from other EV’s to take your £100k ?

In an interview with Autocar, Jaguar MD Rawdon Glover said the EV market is too "homogeneous", adding: “for brands that want to operate in the luxury space, their provenance, history and iconography are really important." That was in August.

Whatever the marketing I'm still not understanding what it is that Jaguar can do to differentiate their product in real life...other than weld a pair on ?

The provenance, history etc is all inextricably ICE based. Not sure it transfers over to EV which is totally different ?

Pace, grace, elegance.
While a lot of what I like about the F Type is about the combustion system there are things EVs can do too. There's nothing stopping this new car being elegant, fast and damn comfy. What I imagine EVs don't do so well is to give the drama associated with the combustion engine.
That's probably why Jaguar have gone for the big luxury barge because that's where they can ask big money and that's where budget should be less likely to chip away at the impact of the final design. The wealthy can make EVs work for them. Let some other company sink money into developing the EV 'everyman'. I don't think aural pleasure and track oriented manners will be primary motivators for the buyers of this car. Effortlessly driving (or being driven) around and between the riviera and the world cities will be what these people are looking for this car to be good for.

There certainly is a huge amount of media comment generated. This guy is analytical in his stuff. His other vids on Lee Kuan Yew, Trump and other things are presented in a similar measured fashion. Not quite the same presentation as Geoff Buys Cars, but I like how both of these people explain their reasoning in their content. Geoff's better at the conspiracy theories though.

Don't forget that they started life making sidecars for motorcycles. And called themselves "SS" (Swallow Sports) before the war made that a bit unacceptable.

Swallow Sidecars, not 'Sports' ;)

To be honest I think they might have struggled in the modern day with 'Swallow Sports' with or without the war.

Any hope of this being a marketing stunt seem dashed:

Ah yeah, brain fade!

Hahaha 🤣. Great piece of creative satire there. They beat BMW to it! Although I doubt it, as in today's fearful world, big companies can't do anything other than bland. Which is a shame. Todays' world is far too serious an full of angst.

Another teaser picture. Cannot work out what part this is

Rear window surround maybe?

I'm wondering if it's an up to date version of the design direction the likes of which Citroen would have delivered in the past?

Cars have become such bland clones nowadays, something different is needed. Although, perhaps not following the Fiat Multipla though.

I still think they're up to something...

BBC published this in the last few hours...
www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c20ny39wpg3o.amp

Woke news broadcaster opines on woke company's woke advert ? :)

Either way I actually think the car itself will probably turn out to be pretty good and we will all forget the marketing campaign.

The pathetic managing director is appalled by the intolerance he's seen online following the rubbish rebranding....

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2024/nov/23/jaguar-boss-defends-new-ad-and-rebrand-amid-vile-hatred-online

I'm surprised they're not suggesting we should hand back our cars as their 800 woke squad continue with their attempt to rewrite history by erasing Jaguar's like they did on social media by deleting all their previous posts but kept the 20 million followers of a brand the woketards decided is too masculine and not inclusive enough...

They're just following the trend - all the recent ads I've seen (not just from Jaguar) seem to think that what will make me buy a product is to see it being used/eaten by stupid and/or ugly people doing stupid things. I'm clearly not their target demographic.
