Thanks MajorTom, and I'll try out your suggestion with Spotify.
I was told the same by many on the Z4 forum when I mentioned spending £4000 GBP on a bespoke hi fi in a convertible. "Waste of money", "no point in a convertible", "too much road noise" were typical comments.
Wrong thinking totally. That's exactly WHY you need quality kit. I've travelled the autobahns at a constant 120mph with the roof down and can still listen to my tunes in high quality - because the amp and speakers can handle volume with little or no distortion. With the roof up things just get better. Stripping out the cockpit and doors and installing heaps of sound insulation bought it up another level too - roof up or down.
I've had the car a day and a bit and LOVE the supercharged V6 howl
The hi fi will most definitely be off whenever I'm on it. But for long motorway stretches and poodling about in traffic I'm happy enough with the Meridian sound.
I'll let you know if I go down the sound insulation route. I need to spend more time before deciding.
