Car covers

Has anyone had any experience of car covers for their F-type?
Pros and cons, different types and brands?
Thoughts would be appreciated

I’ve used a Specialised cover for the last 3 years and very happy with it - fits well, never needed to use extra straps (the elasticated edges are more than adequate to keep cover on even in high winds), and has weathered well. Not cheap but worth it. The website says the cover is designed to be used with wing mirrors not folded but I find it works fine with mirrors folded too.

Which Specialized cover do you have - the Plus or the Elite?
Also have a specialised cover, they didn’t have the three named varieties when I purchased mine but it was app £300. Had it for two years and all good, only use it through winter months. Very secure, just need to ensure car is fully clean and dry before fitting. Not something I’d want to be removing and replacing frequently as they are quite bulky to handle.

I have used Classic Additions car covers for many years and they have been excellent. Keeps the car dry and they fix tight to prevent swirl marks.Agree with the comment that you should try and keep the car clean and dry prior to putting the cover on though.

Official Jag one, very soft fleecy inside, it's been great, but it doesnt live outside so cant comment, more of a dust cover in the winter for me, also too bulky for regular use, was about £150 iirc

Classic additions for me as well.

The Ultimate Waterproof Outdoor Car Cover was a perfect fit and is nice and soft. I also have the Ultimate Outdoor Waterproof Half Car Cover which I use in the summer months.

I have tried out all of the ones others have mentioned. The OEM Jaguar one is good, soft easy to put on and off, but is not waterproof and will also allow dust to get through. Material after time also tends to break down and tears at the stress points around the mirrors. Expensive too and not in stock unless you get one used.

The Specialised at time I ordered came in two varieties, heavy duty and lightweight. Heavy duty is not that easy to handle and store whilst the lightweight one is better for handling and storage but not as durable. I returned the heavy duty as the one I received was NOT waterproof and they replaced with a lightweight which was ok so perhaps a I got a faulty one.

Classic additions Ultimate Waterproof Outdoor Car Cover is in my opinion the best and size M fits snugly. The material is waterproof, flexible, soft and durable, easy to use and store and keeps my car clean. High winds also not a problem and been using for a number of years without any marks on the paint (Clean car always to avoid paint damage).

I use a classic additions cover too, does a great job. I always wash and dry car prior to fitting. Had a few water spots on the wing tops near the bottom of the windscreen once but easily removed with quick detailer. Keeps her nice and dry 95% of the time.

got mine from a charity shop in Budleigh £2.50, not perfect fit but works well in the garage, keeps dust, spiders and other bits off

My experience over the years is an outdoor car cover causes more problems, light scratching whilst flapping about in the wind....

Never understood why people would want to cover their car in a garage. The F-Type is a stunning design, I want to look at it every time I walk into the garage, even if it is laid up for the winter.

I'm inclined to agree with scz4. When living in my previous house, I purchased a Classic Additions Lightweight Outdoor cover and although it did an okay job of keeping the car dry, it would barely hold up during windy days and eventually the straps began to fail after only a couple months.

The plastic clips would constantly rub up against the paintwork and condensation would also form on the car after heavy rain, so it was a bit pointless at times.

Nowadays I just use a half cover when the car isn't in the garage.
