Brake caliper covers?

Hi, would love to hear any of your opinions on caliper covers. I’ve had calipers painted before but the initial fantastic look didn’t last long. Just been looking at various caliper covers available online, some great colours and they look like they could be longer lasting?

I would want to properly understand the caliper covers on offer before fitting.
Whilst correctly designed that can be beneficial, poorly designed or wrong material can have the opposite effect and actually trap heat in the caliper.

Personally I'd just stick with a decent refurb either done yourself properly or with a specialist.

I suspect the answer is that your previous refurbish was poorly done. We use Brake Caliper Specialists, https://www.bcs-automotive.co.uk who do an excellent job at a fair price, including logos to your preference. Of course, you have to strip the calipers from the car and re-install and re-instate the system afterwards, so you need a workshop with space to have your car immobile for a week or so. If you're near Andover, Hampshire, we can help (we have much more workshop space than we need).

Thanks Tim. Right answer, BCS look in a different league! I’m up in the midlands so I’ll see if there’s anyone similar closer to me. Thank you

Thanks for the advice jeeps. Will search for a specialist near me 👍

I just cleaned mine and brush painted with Halford paint. Laquer on top, new decals. Look OK to me.

Thanks Paul. Hope all ok with you. Will probably get them painted by a specialist, as explained before I’m not as handy on the tools as you guys on here

Don't doubt yourself.
All it takes is to remove a wheel, use a small wire brush to scrape off any loose paint/corrosion, spray with brake cleaner, apply new brake caliper paint. I only painted visible surfaces so didn't take much time at all.

Will it be as good as a good pro no, does doing it yourself provide really good results for less than £10 per caliper yes and you might just enjoy yourself. Worst case you can still use a pro!

Nice job. It’s that gloss look that pops I’m after 👍
