I have the Jaguar OEM car mats and I fitted a piece of aluminium tread plate on the driver’s side mat a few years ago. Before doing so I looked at the area where my heel makes contact with the mat.
The plate is approx 1.5mm thick and measures 25cm x 16cm. I used 1/8" aluminium pop rivets and placed small washers on the underside of the mat for the rivets to pull onto. I filed the back of the rivets down a bit so the mat is flush with the floor carpet.
The aluminium plate stops my heel from wearing through the mat and prolongs its lifespan many times over. It also looks good with the polished stainless steel Jaguar Sport pedal covers.
