Burning smell under acceleration

Hi all,

Got my 2015 AWD R a few months ago and there is a burning smell on hard acceleration.

The smell is only noticeable with the windows down when flooring it in sport mode(car fully warmed up), I can also smell it occasionally on start up, like a oil smell from the exhaust.

Had the local specialist check it out and they've confirmed it has no oil leaks at all

Any ideas what this could be?

Would you describe the smell as sulphuric? I experience the same in my V6S when being revved out & driven hard.

I assume it's the same for the V8.

There's a couple of posts related to this, shouldn't be anything to worry about if that's the case.

Anybody else had same?

That is a good sign that your cats are cleaning themselves as they are getting up to temperature.

My aim has always been to get them as hot as possible to keep them clean, thus the smell becomes hardly noticeable thereafter.

Drive it for 5 minutes at 3500rpm, that'll get them hot!

It's more like an oil burning smell. It doesn't go away when the car is hot, I can still smell it on hard acceleration in sport mode almost every time I give it full throttle
