Engine y smell in cab when giving it the beans

I'm not sure if this is something I should be concerned about, but when "giving it the beans" (usually paddles in Manual Sport Mode), sometimes there is a smell in the cab.

Hard to describe, but I'd say its "engine"

It doesn't happen all the time, and doesn't hang around long.

This is my first supercharged V8, so I've got nothing to compare it too.

Thoughts welcome - should I get it looked at? or just part of the experience when dialing up the smiles?

Its a 22 plate 450 AWD

Would you say the smell is sulphuric? I experience the same in my V6S when being revved out & driven hard.

There's a couple of posts related to this, shouldn't be anything to worry about if that's the case.

My V6 has noticeable sulphur smell when I drive it hard; sign of damaged cat converter or normal fuel burn off?

Anybody else had same?

Cheers

That is a good sign that your cats are cleaning themselves as they are getting up to temperature.

My aim has always been to get them as hot as possible to keep them clean, thus the smell becomes hardly noticeable thereafter.

Drive it for 5 minutes at 3500rpm, that'll get them hot!

Sulphuric is a great way to describe it yeah! Somewhere between engine and electrical, but yes... that does sound like what I'm experiencing.

I'll relax a bit them :) I mean, nothing was picked up during its last service and its only got 12K miles on the clock, so hopefully nothing to worry about.

I shall continue administrating "the beans" to keep things clean ;)

Cheers!
