“ outer Jaguar experience “

Hi Guys, we were on our second leg of our road trip
From Suffolk coast to Chester when our car experienced a “ twilight zone moment”.
I was approaching a roundabout just south of Nottingham when in the 12 inch dashboard digital display came the message “ Fraudulent attack detected “, then within seconds I had a barrage of fault messages rapidly flashing up,…including the rear wing / spoiler stuck in the up position , as I exited the roundabout, on to the slip road, I couldn’t get more than 3000rpm
and idled at 30mph until I pulled over. In shock, I cut the power. I was completely perplexed by the sudden and catastrophic failure. After 3 mins, I restart the engine, the rear wing retracts, I have full power and no fault warnings on the dash. We continue as if nothing had happened and I’ve just got home from a non stop drive from Chester to the south coast with no untoward problems? Was I a victim of a cyber attack? Thoughts please…..,

Out of interest, did you have a phone plugged in? Certainly the first I've read of this happening and it's always best in these sorts of things to try and establish as much info as possible whilst it's fresh in your mind. Query on the phone is just in case it was something the phone was trying to do that the car thought was an attack of some sort.

I'd definitely raise this with Jaguar at the earliest opportunity though.

Usually when a lot of random faults crop up, we blame low battery voltage. Is your battery in good condition and nicely charged? First (and easiest) thing to check.

Thanks scm, I’ll get it checked on Monday, haven’t had any battery “ low “ warnings though.
I’ve just tried to connect my phone via usb lead and it’s saying “ connection failed “. Tried a different lead same message, somethings afoot?

I've had all the type sensors throw a hissy fit on my Abarth on two occasions. Once was going past the naval base on the top of Portsdown hill Portsmouth and the other one just after passing the Qinetiq MOD place in Funtington.

Might be just coincidence, but they have been the only occurrences ever and I've done those same routes many times. I've probably been watching too many Geoff Buys Cars videos🛸

Nothing to see here, move along please. No top secret testing facilities can be seen from the road, nope, nothing, keep moving

Thinking about it,the animals on that pig farm opposite might have been wearing night vision goggles! 🤣
