Newbie battery challenge only 12.4 V after charge

Think battery is original, has a Jaguar label on it and its 80AH, is that why even with the CTEK comfort (Ctek 3amp) on for a couple of days and says 'Fully Charged'' battery still only reads 12.4V (car double locked) .

Still no warnings for low battery.

No mention orf replacement battery in service records either so seemingly original fitment.

Should I replace with a 95AH and a Ctek 5 or wait......(Battery and Ctek probs about £300)
It’s a P300 that you have? If so the 80AH is the correct battery for a 2L four cylinder and your CTEK 3.8 will adequately recharge up to 85ah. The only issue is how old is the battery itself, although not always a given that they fail due to age.

Car first registered May 2022 so not very old , not quite 3 years. Should I just soldier on with current battery till I see some issues like 'Low Battery' .

Or as its never charges beyond 12.4V and from reading AGM minimum is 12.7 should I just bite the bullet and replace.....?

If it’s not yet 3 years old contact your JLR dealer and say you have had some starting issues and you want it checked out under manufacturer warranty.

I checked mine and you are correct it is an 80AH battery in the P300, when I was looking up for a replacement the 95AH must have been for V6/V8’s. Still seems strange that the OP gets no battery low warning even at 12.1 volts.

its a 2022 car first reg 27/5/22, I bought it a few months ago with 1,093 miles on clock so obviously not much use before me, so maybe battery suffered from lack of use before even tho its not old.

My convenience CTEK is the flashing green when CTEK charger says fully charged and on maintenance. However once I disconnect the CTEK the convenience flasher soon goes to amber flashing and volts now read 12,2V
Sounds like this to me. Its probably been flat for most of its life :x
