Jaguar introduces new logo for the brand

The new era is here, supposedly... and it looks more like a fashion brand than a car brand 🤦‍♂️

I guess it's to teach our friends across the pond to finally pronounce it correctly. :D

Ha! Wouldn't be surprised if they start pronouncing it as Ja-goo-arr instead

Very odd 'adverts' and along the same lines as no doubt many of us have received by email today to inspire us.
I assume it's to tie in with the December Miami Arts events when they launch the new design language, or whatever it is..

Doesn't feel right to me, but I'll reserve judgement to see what follows.

Since 1922 Jaguar cars represented luxury, performance, and British heritage with core values such as grace, elegance, performance, power, and ambition to leap forward.

The Jaguar symbol, which includes the Leaping Jaguar and the Roaring Jaguar, is meant to represent these values. The colors of the Jaguar logo also have meaning:
Silver and metallic gray: Symbolizes sophistication and modernity
Black: Represents integrity and performance
Red: Represents passion for the drive

Replaced by what appears to be fashion advert and a JaGUar spelling my 6yr old sometimes still does with mixed letter.

And the marketing department "copy nothing".. perhaps they have forgotten about the i-pace already.

Reserving comments but this seems like a whole new none existent market they are aiming at.

It's was like their marketing team had run out of ideas and, having watched The Apprentice of the past few years, came up with something silly that nobody else had the chance to review before sending it to print 🤦🏻

And the person at the helm, collecting all of his Christmas bonus, gave us this pearl

"From a marketing sense, at the moment, there are lots of people out there that know what Jaguar stands for, and actually it doesn’t stand for them, and we’ve seen that in terms of how they’ve responded to the offering that’s been in the market for the last 10 or 20 years."

That right there is how you completely alienate your entire customer base. He's clearly saying he doesn't give a 🤬 to existing customers.

Jag's gone from 'Grace, Space and Pace' to 'Ace Waste of Space'.

Sad to see this happen to such an iconic & storied automotive brand.

Having watched the lame video, I'm convinced Jaguar became a brand for puberty blockers or decaf energy drinks. Or both.

I'm struggling to get an established, century-old, up-market manufacturer with a rich motoring heritage from that logo and marketing. What a waste of a valuable brand.

It sort of reminds me of this 👇

Oh how things have moved on since this:

The new fashion inspired marketing is obviously rubbish but I don't mind the new font and design elements.

I can also fully understand that they don't care about most of the recent customer base because they haven't been making any money on that customer base. Fingers crossed that they manage to attract a sufficiently profitable new customer base with the new cars and I for one am looking forward to seeing what cars they will release.

I agree with this. If you're not making any money at all from the recent model line up and by implication the customer base, whilst the LR side is doing very well, then a change is needed, or the brand is dead anyway as a car manufacturer to Tata.
I have to wait to see how it unfolds, but in the marketing world the very fact we have an active thread on, this then it's an early win for them. What follows is really important as they turn early clicks of some bizarre teasers into aspiration and then sales.

Let's just hope it doesn't turn out the way the Post Office was rebranded to Consignia for a year before reality got a hold of the marketing folks..

Oh, if you see the comments section of that video, it's nothing short of a disaster. Jag is quickly becoming the laughing stock of the car industry online.

I can't see the LR side of the business ever doing something as stupid and as alienating.

It's clear they are pitching to young, wealthy, fashion-conscious extroverts. So certainly not me then!
They've been quite open about the desire to break away from the 'Jaaaag Man' image of old.
But maybe like the BBC, they burn their old loyal market and fail to capture a new one. That would be sad.

I'd love it if the new GT was so astoundingly awesome that it is an instant hit. We'll see soon enough.
Can you create a luxury brand of this kind by shear force of absurd marketing? Probably not.
