Harry Metcalf's latest video puts the reality into perspective. Only someone with the brains of a dead millipede can't see that continuing to move manufacturing to China where it's powered by coal, isn't really achieving that goal of net zero.
I've just watched an article on local BBC news, where some lad is travelling around Britain by electric boat. Range is 25-50 miles. It demonstrates whats possible says the BBC proudly. Except that his mum is in the film and she's driving a Land Rover and meets him to provide power from the battery packs she's had to bring.

Interesting video, personally I completely agree with going to more environmentally friendly vehicles (hence I'm looking for an ftype as they are fuel efficient! 
) but the idea of electric seems to be the wrong way to go as a nation due to range anxiety, many can't charge at home etc etc.
I'm surprised that hydrogen fuel cells hasn't become more of a thing, has the advantage of being able to fuel as we currently do. Obvious disadvantages are can't yet easily get green hydrogen, plus people concerned about having a bomb in the car but I'm sure those could be resolved

I personally think Toyota will have the last laugh. They've made close to no effort to make a pure EV and they are betting on EV uptake topping out at about 30-40%. I believe I'm right in saying that the ONLY EV they've made is one that is a bit crap, and they only did it because California bought in a law that said you couldn't sell cars there unless you had a pure EV on sale as well.
Hydrogen will work for road haulage and plant. Heavy plant can be operating constantly for 18 hours a day over a couple of shifts. Lord JCB did an excellent video on it and he’s heavily into researching hydrogen
Electric will be suitable for final mile deliveries, takeaways etc.

Sobering to believe how people, at the leading edge of motor manufacturing and responsible for billions of investments, have not been reading the stars…..?
