My F-Type R Coupe 5.0 V8, is approaching its 10th birtthday! I have owner her from new and has only covered 40,000 Miles.
One of the items on the Jaguar service schedule is the replacement of the gearbox oil. It requires 8.5 litres and Jaguar charge over £550, for the oil, which is made by ZF Lifeguard the same product that you can buy for less than £200! My dealer wont use it as it does not come directly from Jaguar! The only difference being that Jaguar apply their sticker to the side of the ZF Lifeguard Fluid 8 bottle.
In addition the workshop mechanic advised me to replace the ZF gearbox filter, although its not on the Jaguar service schedule. The gearbox is manufactured by ZF, so can I purchase the filter, which is the bottom pan, seal and bolts from a ZF supplier? I dont want to fit pattern parts but to pay inflated prices for the same product seems crazy.
Does anyone know of the labour time for A. the oil change and B the fittment of the new pan filter
I would be very appreciative of any advice and purchase options.
