Finally bagged one !

Hi all,

Joined the forum a couple of weeks ago when I thought I'd secured the Silicon Silver P380 I was lusting after. Gutted when it fell though, but turns out I was lusting after the wrong car :D

This weekend I found the new love of my life. MY2018, P380, AWD in British Racing Green with just 7000 miles and JFSH. Apparently the previous owner has a small fleet of "nice cars" and only used this one occasionally.

Picking it up next weekend. Having new red seat belts installed to match the double red stitching on the interior. That small lift will make it as sweet on the inside as it is on the outside.

Not gonna sleep all week :D

We've all done that! Although I wasn't actually lusting after the one I was tempted by, and it was sold to someone else while I was procrastinating .... As you've found, it always works out for the better! Welcome to the club!

Yeah, it all works out in the end scm. And if hasn't worked out .... then it's not end (thank you Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) :D

Thanks for the warm welcome. Looking forward to living the highs and lows with you all.

Yeah, its stunning inside and out Sandytim. It's been a pleasure dealing with S & T. He's got a truly wicked sense of humour too.

I texted to ask if it had sold already and he replied "I'm afraid it has ..... to you if you'd still like it." I went from gutted to elated in half a second 😂

Congrats, looks like you've bagged a fantastic example with a fantastic spec there. I know that sleepless feeling. Once you get it and can start sleeping the obsession kicks in. I still can't stop driving and staring at mine after years of ownership.

And welcome to the BRG club. Just wait until the sun hits that paint. :)

"I still can't stop driving and staring at mine after years of ownership" - beautiful words MajorTom 😂

I literally couldn't sleep last night. Finally conked out when it was getting light.

It's interesting you mention your tan interior. When I spoke to S & T this morning about red seat belts I said the car was beautiful inside and out - but it really should have had a classic tan interior.

Luckily it has the double red stitching, so the red seat belts will give it the contrast (pazazz ?) the interior needs.

No complaints, and it will look awesome, but i have to admit I'd have spec'd the tan myself.

Have you got a few pics of your interior I can drool over ?

I actually happened to see your car on youtube the other day. Looks stunning both inside and out. Amazing spec too. For instance those heated and cooled performance seats are superb.

A non black interior was actually a must have for me but all interior colours have their different qualities and those red details spice up your interior beautifully. Sure, happy to share some pics of my interior...

Oh good God that looks stunning  I knew I was right.

Can't believe you've seen the inside my new car. You're a complete stranger and it feels like I've been violated 😂

Yeah, the spec is big. Almost everything I wanted. The only toy I could find missing was the powered tailgate. Seen it on quite a few while I've been looking. But the 7000 miles and outstanding condition more than makes up for it.

Hey, is yours actually a left hander or did your photos get reversed ? Ah, I just twigged. USA ?

Stunning car! Imagine as good as new 👌

S&T stock some great cars. Guess they source from direct private purchase? Those beauties don’t come from WBAC/auctions.

Enjoy 👍

Hehe, yes the short videos that Sports and Touring post about their cars for sale started popping up in my youtube feed some time ago and I had to take a look when a lovely facelift BRG similar to mine showed up.

The powered tailgate is nice but I certainly wouldn't miss it. I think I saw your car also had the semi-automatic parallel park option. Another one that I wouldn't miss and one of the few features I've still never tried. Looks like you'll have lots of toys to try out.

Yep mine's LHD since I'm based in Luxembourg.

Given the condition and mileage yours should be a real minter. The only thing I'd take a close look at is that the DRLs are ok since many of the MY18 cars (and also some later ones) have issues with the passenger side DRL.

Thanks Ianp. There's 2 or 3 F-Type alloys I really liked while I was searching, but i do think these are the nicest.

Congratulations on finding your dream car, those guys in Andover only take on the best of the best, did you see that P400 ( sport) in their portfolio, another awesome car. Enjoy your new F

Thanks Keith666.

Yeah I was looking at the P400 too. For me personally the yellow stitching with ebony black is the best interior of the lot. If only someone had done a P400 in British Racing Green ... 🥰

Home sweet home .....

Drove home with the biggest grin. Oh my, the sound above 4000 rpm is just raucous. And the pops, crackles and woofles on overrun just like the YouTube videos I've been watching - just better in the flesh.

Apologies for the slight delay MajorTom. Been out with my foot on the happy pedal all day :D

Must say it was a pleasure dealing with Tim at Sports & Touring. Very knowledgeable and an old school gentleman with a wicked sense of humour. Was able to answer my many questions about the vehicle history, internal and external features , security, maintenance, cleaning etc.

Highly recommend Sports & Touring to anyone looking for a quality F-Type.

As for my own purchase, it was presented in showroom condition (not an exaggeratiion). For the test drive, Tim drove us out to spare me the narrow country lanes, then opened the throttle on the local dual carriageway and i drove us back. Yes it's VERY quick and loud the moment you want it to be - but i was also pleasantly surprised how quiet and civilised it was just poodling around in traffic in D. In both cases it felt very well planted, and hid it's weight well.

Music's very important to me (5000 mile + tours through the Alps and beyond). My new car only has the base Meridian hi fi which has real poor reviews. I was expecting to be disappointed and to be transferring my £4k "Focal" system (which is like listening to music in a sound studio) from my Z4. Very happy to say it won't be necessary. Just playing a little with the very basic controls and some good quality recordings from my USB was enough to produce a perfectly acceptable sound. No, it doesn't match the Focal system. But it wasn't "bad" either. Either my ears are uncultured and can't recognise poor quality hi fi, or I really don't understand the bad press. I couldn't be happier the reviews were wrong (to my ears anyway).

Been out most of today in the local countryside getting a better feel. Then another couple of hours pairing up my phone, switching the WiFi on, connecting the Jaguar In Control app, setting a couple of favourites on the twat-nav etc. It's been a very happy weekend :D

Congrats again! If you spent all weekend in it instead of posting things on a forum means you got the right car. :) As you mention, it definitely has great GT qualities and is very civilised if you want it to (and close the exhaust valves ;)).

I also think that the non-surround Meridian system is fine if you set it up correctly and nowhere near as bad as some think or claim it is. You'll never get fantastic sound in a car like the F-Type anyway because of the other cabin and road noise. A nice feature is that it plays lossless formats from USB devices. If you have your own SIM in the car you can also run a native Spotify app in the car which works and sounds well.
