Awful customer service

Early start this morning to look at some F Types, I'm gob smacked at the lack of customer service from Jaguar main dealers.<br /><br />Stood around 30minutes, only customer there, not one person came over to ask me if I needed help. That's 3 out of 3 main dealers where I've had the same experience, could learn a lot of Audi.

<div><br></div><div>Great dealership but I am sure they are no longer Jaguar main dealers, I got mine from them and they were first class, my dealer is two miles form me and absolutely sh88e!!</div>

The same problem here!!!<br />My dealer is also two miles away and pass it at least four times a day but ended up in Leicestershire buying the same car which was advertised at the same price as my local one whom I felt were doing me a favour by selling it to me if I was lucky enough!!!! After seeing it I phoned the salesman three times in a day to ask some questions about it and he never once returned my calls hence looking elsewhere and buying one I emailed him with a picture of the car on my drive and thanked him for his time. <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

It has always amazed me how often main dealerships are inept at sales. I while ago I was interested in looking at a BMW 5 series and went into Brighton BMW. After wandering around inside the showroom containing 20 cars, for quite a while, I gave up and encountered a salesman coming in as I was going out of the door, who couldn't really ignore me at that point. Ooh um ah a 5 series, er I think we had a used one recently. I just raised my eyebrows and carried on walking. A big site containing 100 cars and not one example of a bog standard maintstream model in stock new or used!<br><br>My local Jaguar dealer didn't seem interested in selling to me either. We went in 3 times and spoke to a salesman and I had a test drive in an F type. I then emailed over my spec, as discussed, for a price to be prepared. No follow up whatsoever! Plus we'd also asked twice about arranging a test drive of an XE, which was never forthcoming. So some weeks later we went to see what Guildford Jaguar was like and as a result ordered 2 cars! Much better all round. <br>

I've had problems with dealers, also with a BMW 5 series purchase. But I have been pretty impressed with HA Fox, Derby. I was looking outside the dealership at a couple of F Types back on a cold miserable day in December, one of the salesmen was straight out to help before I'd got near the door. The outcome was I bought a 1200mile V6 Coupe, with good spec for £11000 under list and we are picking up my wife's new F Pace Portfolio on Tuesday. Whether this was down to Adrian the sales man, or company policy, I don't know, but I know he sells more cars than the others. Not rocket science is it?

I am very lucky, as I live just a 10 min walk from the main Jaguar dealer in Norway.<br /><br />I have also gotten a dedicated mechanic who is the only person that services my F-type. He knows very well how important this car is for me, and he treats it accordingly. He is a very good mechanic, and I always have a chat with him whenever the car is serviced <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

It is nice to hear others have had the same level of customer service, by that I mean I was starting to think it was how I look <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" alt="LOL" title="LOL" /><div><br></div><div>I started a chat on the F Type facebook group, seems a number of people have had the same experience, i wonder how these places are still in business! If they are this bad at selling me a car, what will they be like if I need to take it back with an issue or when it needs a service?</div><div><br></div><div>I am guessing the sales guys have earnt too much this financial year, the new plate taking them over the edge. i will have to go back in April <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" alt="LOL" title="LOL" /></div>

Hampshire? Was Fox's in Southampton one of those who disappointed?<br /><br />If it wasn't - don't bother, they will join your list :)

HA fox Southampton and Guildford <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

HA Fox in Nottingham were very attentive last year when I was looking. They have now swapped dealerships with what was Stratton at Derby. I don' t know whether there were staff swaps as well. I also found Sturgess at Leicester to be very good.

Guy Salmon in Stockport weren't very good on the sales side but when I took mine in yesterday for a small job I got a free wash and vac and paid for a taxi home while waiting and sent a taxi to pick me up when finished and did it a bit cheaper than quoted!!! Pity the salesman couldn't be as attentive.

Hatfields in Sheffield were my first port of call to test drive an F-type. I wanted a silver V8 AWD R and they said they'd get in touch if one became available. On a whim I went to HA Fox in Derby to look at something similar and they found a car within 2hs that was exactly what I wanted. To this day I have yet to have a return phone call from Sheffield. Nice sales people but just didn't seem bothered about selling me a car.

It amazes me just how inept the retailers are, both in sales, and after/tech servicing/customer care.<div> </div><div>We have been 'through' 2 retailers on the South Coast and have settled with a really great retailer in Exeter at Matford Jaguar. </div><div>Excellent service, every time and I will go as far as to personally recommend them to anyone in the Southern hemisphere.</div><div> </div><div>if anyone want contact names and details, I'll be happy to PM them across</div>

Last thing I want in a showroom is to be pestered by some oik in pointed shoes and a shiny suit, particularly if like mot of them he knows sod all mechanically. And then of course there is the salesman who patronises - I had one guy at a Merc dealer telling me on a test drive that I should never brake with my left foot as I always do. And he told me not once but several times. I bought from another dealer.<br><br>Meeting a stranger, as in salesman, isnt always easy for either side. there are people you gel with and others that irritate immediately, often for no reason more important than the way they look.<br>

<div><br></div><div>Two of the three culprits Henry... To be fair to Basingstoke, they were busy. The other dealer was HA Fox of Guildford</div>

I have messaged jaguar Uk on Facebook this morning, to let them know of my disappointing experience, will be interesting to see what they have to say.<div><br></div><div>I have joined two F Type groups of Facebook, I am surprised at the number of people who have had the same experience as me, maybe Jaguar need to investigate this with some 'mystery shoppers'.</div>

I was invited to become one at service time but when I responded to indicate that I would be happy to do it I was advised that they had already reached their quota for the dealership I planned to use which was fair enough.<br /><br />My local dealership didn't end up selling me my F-Type despite advising them that I had purchased a private plate for it and had finalised the spec I wanted! As a result of their indifference I went to another dealer 60 miles away who was only too pleased to help and do a deal. I did make a point of calling at my local dealers in my new car to order a touch up paint and the salesman was amazed to see that I had got one from elsewhere. However, they ordered the wrong colour touch up paint which had to be reordered and then they lied telling me it had been posted to me two days previously when it was still in the post tray! Says it all really. I honestly get better service at my local Ford dealership who have been excellent throughout 20 years of dealing with them!<edited><editID>scoobydoo</editID><editDate>2017-03-05 16:46:46</editDate></edited>
