Awful customer service

I've dealt with 2 different salesmen at HA Fox Southampton, and they've both been great. Initial contact was via Carwow. Both took me out for long test drives in 2 different V6 models. Only reason I haven't made a purchase yet is lack of available stock with enough spec.<br><br>Neither salesman at HA Fox was pushy, or made me feel in any way
uncomfortable. Even when I turned up for a test drive in old jeans and
hoodie.<br><br>I've also had lots of email contact with Harwoods Chichester - very helpful.<br><br>And Lloyds Carlisle have been outstanding. Got an 8 minute walkaround video for a car I'm very interested in. Currently deciding whether I should drive 300 miles for a test drive. <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" alt="Confused" title="Confused" /><br><br>Does anyone have personal experience of Lloyds?<br><br>@Blade_76<br>I'd like to think you've been unlucky. But maybe you haven't if it's happened at 3 different dealerships. Maybe I was the lucky one?<br><br><br>

I bought mine from Lloyd jaguar in Carlisle as I got best trade in price on my rs5. They were very good to deal with and rang me a couple of times after the sale to make sure everything was ok. I get them to service it as well when I'm up there on my yearly golf trip.

What is strikingly obvious reading these and the US forums, is just how generally poor dealerships/retailers are?<div></div><div>How can Tata produce such a blinding product, yet the quality of and customer care are not there???</div><div> </div><div>Let me loose within their management system for a month or two...they need a sort out!</div><div> </div><div>Such a shame....</div>

Stratstone Newcastle. Can.t fault them. On my 2nd F Type. Salespeople not pushy at all. Very knowledgeable about the product

I also bought mine form Lloyds Carlisle. I would say they were good, and were able to match the best Carwow price I had been quoted. Levi the salesperson even brought a V6S out to my house to check the driveway clearances as I have a steep slope going up int the driveway, and that was 30 miles out of Carlisle each way. I was happy to place my order with them.

I started looking via the internet and overall the general response from dealers was poor. HA Fox in Suffolk (I think) had a car for sale on their site which 3 weeks later still wasn't in their stock - I thought that was illegal but hey-ho. Other dealers evenutually rang me back without a great deal of enthusiam and overall I thought they could all have done with a good kicking. I eventually went into my local Newcastle dealer and arranged an extended test drive the following Saturday. Got there at 12 and was back as arranged at 4, frankly I had 'eager buyer' written all over my forehead but the salesman really wasn't that interested and at 6pm some 2 hours later, I left thinking sod you I'll go elsewhere. Monday morning comes and I relented and rang the guy "find me a new AWD S with a light interior, pan roof and camera" Three days later having heard nothing from him I drove to their sister dealership in Houghton-le-Spring, and the deal was done 2 hours later. I rang the Newcastle salesman to tell him the bad (good!) news and ended up having a bit of a slanging match on the phone "but I loaned you a car" he said, "you should have told me you were ready to buy" Err hello, I'm the client here, the other Stratstone dealership found me a car in 2 hours, and youve still not actually got back to me after 3 days. His loss, my gain, very happy with Houghton-le-Spring and absolutely delighted with the car - its the frst one they've sold in BRG, cant imagine why!<br>

Congratulations on the BRG. Yes it is odd that BRG is so rare. I was the 1st to order that color in Geneva. I've seen one other in Lausanne but otherwise quite an exclusive colour <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

My wife went to our local Audi dealer to purchase a brand new car. I went with her & the salesman was very patronising.<br /><br />We walked out, drove to Stratstone & brought a £43k RR Evoque.<br /><br />Cannot believe how poor some sales people are <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley21.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

As long as the units go out the door, that is what the manufacturers are interested in - nothing else<div> </div><div>They don't need to rely on Halo car sales to bring the dollar in, SUV's and Electrics are doing that for them at the moment.</div><div> </div><div>Pointy shoes, juts left school look, silly hair, ill fitting suits, we know the types; agents, car salespersons, estate agents, double glazing sales, insurance.....all the same. </div><div>If their lips move, they're lying <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" height="17" width="17" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /></div><div> </div><div>The one saving grace that Jaguar have IMO, is the product. The car ownership experience outweighs the negatives.....so why do they need to try?</div><div> </div><div>Having said this, our experience of trying Audi, Merc, BMW, Aston, Porsche and Jag retailers was great. Aston have the best coffee and biscuits in the business! even if their cars are built from Fisher Price parts!</div><div> </div>

Well I have actually found a responsive dealer at last, booked in for a test drive Saturday morning.<div><br></div><div>I'm not going to say too much, in case someone reads this and beats me to it <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" alt="LOL" title="LOL" /></div>

Best buying experience of a brand new car including aftersales was Merc by a country mile. <br /><br />Excellent all round even when the car failed and left me stranded miles from home with the family in it. <br /><br />Audi are by far the worst but my Jag experience is a very close second. Buying a "mint" car unseen and turning up to collect a comparative shed was heart breaking but it's all sorted now.

<blockquote>Best buying experience of a brand new car including aftersales was Merc by a country mile. <br> </blockquote><br><br>By far the worst experience for me. Their whole attitude caused me to look at Jaguar. <br><br>After test driving the new E-class which left me cold, the salesman got far too pushy trying to get me to place an order. <div> </div><div>Ooh not good, I thought I had it bad with my ongoing door issue</div>

My local is Beadles of Southend, they have another branch in Kent.<div> </div><div><u>A brief encounter with 'sales'</u>, a term I use very loosely in the motor trade, is frankly underwhelming so pleased I found my F-type through the specialist market.</div><div> </div><div>Having read through the above the consitent error would appear to be that most are expecting to find actual sales people in this industry. Very sadly there are a very, very rare commodity. Most are simply order takers with no authority other then to reach for some trade plates (if you could get them away from minecraft on their pc's). Even if you walked in and said yes, they have to run off to the sales 'manager' to approve the order.</div><div> </div><div>They sit there in the ill fitting corporate suit (Males or female), no passion, no idea how to prospect, sell, support a customer base and worst of all (IMO) when they have taken your order they forget who you are!!</div><div> </div><div>All of the above is why I hate the idea of changing cars!!</div><div> </div><div>However, and refreshingly, my encounters to date with the <u>aftersales / service team at Beadles</u> has been first class. Clear helpful advice, a professional meet & greet as they remember who you are, a responsive can do approach. I popped in about my upper tailgate rubber seal. He was up, out to have a look, took a second opinion who agreed and when in for my next service it will be sorted under warranty. Courtesy car always provided (remember I didnt buy from them), they took care of all transfer document for warranty and service packs.</div><div> </div><div>So to date, thumbs up for service <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" alt="Thumbs Up" title="Thumbs Up" /> , big thumbs down for the order takers who keenly took my details for the F-Pace 24 hr tets drive 3 weeks ago ... Im still waiting for that call and the keys ... <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley21.gif" border="0" alt="Thumbs Down" title="Thumbs Down" /></div>

<div><br></div><div>Haha cheers mate. Sounds like you are spending a bit more money than me. I had been toying with the idea of a new one, but I've lost £30k in 3 years on my current car, I am letting someone else take the hit on this one.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

Many thanks for the positive review, I hope you are enjoying your F-Type.<div><br></div><div>To clarify a later poster's comments we are no longer Jaguar Retailers but remain an Authorised Jaguar Service Centre.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm still there in a sales capacity and would still welcome enquiries from anyone interested in a new or used car, F-Type or otherwise. The contact details you provided in your post are still current.</div><div><br></div><div>I won't post our website link for fear of breaking any forum rules regarding commercial advertising, but I'm sure a bit of judicious Googling would find it easily. Anyone interested in seeing what we are doing post-Jaguar will see that we have a very eclectic range of cars to offer!</div>

Well i finally visited a dealer who wanted to sell me a car, I don't want to say too much as a deal isn't done yet, but they've impressed me so far... Even though I was already being looked after, three different salespeople come over and talked to me, did I want any help! It was no wonder they were very busy and in fact sold three cars whilst I was there.<div><br></div><div>Anyway, had a test drive, LOVE in the sound! Feels very planted, very impressed. The car only arrived this week so hasn't had a prep (so i am told), a few niggly marks here and there, which I have been told will be fixed once its prep'd this Tuesday. So going back Wednesday afternoon to give it the once over, IF its all good I will be making a purchase <img src="http://www.ftypeownersclub.co.uk/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif" border="0" alt="Clap" title="Clap" /> </div>

Steve and Chris at H A Fox, Chester have been excellent with my new purchase to be fair.<br />Unbeatable deal, demo car for s weekend and smooth handover.
