Awful customer service

I shopped around the UK as I have always done to get the best deal, and to my surprise the best deal was in my doorstep.
My car was UK stock so not quite what I would have specced, but very, very close. The financial side however made it a bit of a no brainier.
Having had a near perfect A to B roadster in the 3.4 Boxster S for the past 2 years the F Type was a really difficult decision, but having had mine for a week, I'm so so happy.<edited><editID>Abergele 380S</editID><editDate>2017-03-11 23:27:53</editDate></edited>

Similar here, I traded in my Cayman for the ftype, don't regret it one bit although my car is at HA Fox Chester as we speak still trying to get my door and sills flush with each other. They've had it for 17 days with no result as yet, aghhhh

Hi All
I'm really getting the impression car dealers are really not interested, as I'm thinking of changing my daily runabout I called into a Mercedes dealer too have a look at the GLS , after about 10 mins of waiting a reluctant salesman came over to see if he could help explained what I was after he said there was one on the forecourt . We then had to ask if he could open the car for me to see inside , which he promptly did from his desk waving his arm above his head , my wife and I went outside had a look around the car for probably 15 mins and did not see the salesman, if the dealership was busy I could understand as we had turned up unannounced but there was only us there and probably 4 or 5 sales people all chatting , we promptly left wallet entacted.

What's the problem - bottom of edge of doors not aligned properly?
I hope they've given you a decent hire car.

They have given me a 2.0L diesel XE

The link below is a thread with the same issues i'm having, you will see my posts on page 3/4

http://www.ftypeownersclub.co.uk/forum/problem-with-f-type-door_topic2211.html#.WMTND2ZFC70

I had a very interesting chat with a friend who works at my local Audi dealer and if other dealers are doing the same as them, I can see why salespeople aren't that bothered... he told me they no longer get great commission selling cars, they get a flat rate(I won't say how much but believe me it was shocking) for each one sold no matter if it's a bottom of the range at £16k or top of the range at £150k car.

Doesn't really give someone the drive to sell does it?

New and Used had slightly different value (£50-£100) as well as an accessory payment and finance value - this was before the days of 'Business Managers' so I would do my own Hp deals. It was regular that commission from accessories and HP outweighed the car sale itself.

In a little over 8 months I'd sold over 140 cars .... going into '87 I was going to be top of all leader boards .... I'd now established myself, had access to historical records for prospecting and had a busy diary with lots of prospects. The othef sales guys thought I was nuts but I was going to give this my best shot ....

The result was even better than expected ... 100 cars sold in 100 days, previous years earnings achieved in 6 months, sports coupe demo rather than ordinary hatchback .... and the best bit for me .... by working my system, from cold prospecting (dealer customers but not mine at the time), to brochure drops in service cars, follow up class and asking for recommendations, I had a great August through which I set a dealership sales record and would often have people waiting who had been given my details as a recommendation ...

Car sales is not difficult, but very few care enough to want to b good ....

I sympathise with your initial impression, I suggest that you email the head of sales at the garage you are interested in buying from. This happened to me in a Mercedes dealership a few years ago.

I actually brought an Ftype through Car Wow as I was chasing a decent discount, this led me to a dealer I wouldn't normally use, they seemed to work like hell to sell the vehicle and couldn't do enough. Since then they have been slow to return calls and respond to emails so I contacted the head of sales and once again Voila ... service improved dramatically.

Persevere because my Ftype is a fantastic car and I am so glad I brought it .. I don't think about the dealership when I drive it, just the wicked audio from that engine

If I get no joy from the dealer tomorrow I'll be on the phone to trading standards and CA.

I'm led to believe (by someone who used to work in 'customer experience' in a dealership) that the dealers are very reluctant to have Coventry involved with any problems and, try to deal with it completely in house. There would appear to be a very subservient relationship by the dealers who are expected to just 'suck it in'.

With the frustrations I was having with my dealer and the car, I got Coventry involved by contacting Dr Ralf Speth.
Things moved up a notch then.

The cars should not be leaving the factory in such a condition. The quality control is seriously lacking.

Have you got Jaguar CRC involved with that one Wanner???

Yes Moz, spoke to them last Tuesday. They phoned back on Friday saying they've spoken with the dealer etc and work is ongoing. Ffs I know that but there is no resolution from the body shop. Crc said they will phone me again with an update next Tuesday wtf. I will know more than them as I'm in contact with the dealer virtually every day for updates. It's laughable tbh

Crc promised to call me back in 48 hours with my car still waiting 10 days later, have to say the jag lot are sh##te !!!!
