What have you done to your F Type today?

Completed a 9 hour exterior detailing session including paint prep and paint correction, finished off with some King of Gloss paste wax, after all it's summer! Glad how it turned out. Painting the calipers, cleaning and protecting the underbody with lanoguard are on my list before the end of the detailing season.

Looks great! If you want a white one to practise on ....

That's a hard pass from me! It was hard enough to negotiate the time I needed to do mine with the boss 😅

A week into ownership and for the first time ever with any of my cars, I lightly scuffed the edge of my near side rear wheel driving into a multi storey car park in Bradford 😢. It was one of those super narrow barriers and I was still getting used to the wider rear body of the F-type. After panicking thinking what I was going to do, I searched online and found Dave Alloy Doctor in Elland. Today, I finally managed to take the car to him and he did a sterling job repairing it for £65. I had a small defect on the opposite wheel repaired as well for a small fee.

He might come out for 2+ wheel jobs if you're based in the region. Highly recommend him.

Bought some ‘real carbon fibre from AliExpress for the gear stick and steering wheel.
At least I hope it’s real haha very light and thin.

Seems to fit pretty well with some double sided tape.

Took it out for a good blast, paused, stared and took pictures. The usual procedure when enjoying the F-Type. :D

You have an excellent eye for taking pictures and an excellent car to take pictures of 👍

Cheers! I give most of the credit to Ian Callum. It's incredible how photogenique these cars are.

So after two months with a knackered driver's door I finally got the car back after a few days with the dealer to get a new door skin fitted. All in some 2800€ with painting for that kind of job in case anyone wonders. Thankfully covered by insurace. Probably a bit more in the UK.

Unsurprisingly there's a new buzz inside the door when I crank up up the bass but I anyways intended to pull off the door cards sometime soon to felt tape here and there and maybe add some sound deadening. Shit weather forecast for the weekend so that'll be a good reason to cosy up with the car in the garage for a little modding project during the weekend. :)

Blimey! That's crazy money for a door repair. I had a full job done on my SUV door 2 years when a kid hit the paintwork with a rock by accident costing his parents £700 all in. The repairer is a proper bodywork specialist and did a brilliant job.

Interesting comment about cracking up the bass. I properly tried the system for the first time this week in 6 months since I bought the car. It lasted less than 5 minutes and I brought the volume back down to level 2 or 3. I get anxious if I can't hear the exhaust notes in all of its glory 😂

The door looked like this after someone hit it while it was open so I think a plain repair was out of the question...

The new door skin was a bit north of 1000€ ex VAT and the rest was hinges, other bits and bobs, painting and labour.

Although I'm no audiophile (and you can't be in an F-Type anyway because of the road noise) I like my music in the car. The F-Type is my third Jag where the interior can't handle the capacity of the sound system and things start buzzing if you play something with proper beats. In the previous cars it was fairly easily sorted with some felt tape fettling behind the door cards and I'm hoping for the same here.

The only really odd thing about the Meridian system in the F-Type are the subwoofers behind the seats which are entirely useless from the get go because everything back there starts buzzing and resonating even at very low volumes. That worked better in my previous saloons where the subwoofer was under the boot so if trim parts around it buzzed you wouldn't hear it in the cabin. In the last one what buzzed most from loud bass frequencies was the rear number plate and that was fortunately only audible outside the car.

Years ago I dynamatted the doors and a lot of the boot panels plus sound absorbing material. This reduced somewhat the road noise and helped the speakers perform. I fitted upgraded speakers to the doors. I prefer the stereo setting (surround system) faded well forward. It's better, but still nothing like a good home system.

Yeah, the sound has to be faded a bit forward so that the rear woofers aren't activated. Focus now will be on felt taping anything that can buzz inside the doors.

Thought about some dynamatting too but it seems like it's all delivered from the UK and I tend to boycott all web shopping from the UK since brexit so will have to see if there are any good options available on the continent. I bet the Germans have something at least as good.

I have used Reckhorn on few of my cars with much success, imho as good if not better in terms of application than Dynamat.

Brilliant tip Ralph, thanks!

I've seen that the cars come with a little bit of insulation inside the doorskins from factory and now that I stripped my new driver's door I see that they didn't add any of that when they replaced the door so I'm definitely putting some Reckhorn in there.

Evening drive around West Yorkshire. Had to stop when I found this spot overlooking Huddersfield and couldn't resist taking some pics.
