V6 service & MOT cost

Sorry yes, I should have fact checked before replying!

It was indeed the 72 month service it had with new plugs.

If you look on the Jaguar fixed price service sheet, it shows major and interim services.
Each year my service costs have reflected this.

I cannot seem to find Jaguars fixed price service sheet you mention, I can only find the fixed prices from each authorised Jaguar dealer which differ slightly.

Can you confirm the link please?

Not sure if these are up to date prices

My 2015/16 F Type V6 is due for its 5 year service & MOT in May at 30,500 miles.

I’ve been quoted a discounted price of £533.99 inc VAT which includes engine oil & filter with replacement of spark plugs which I’m told is scheduled on this service.

Taking into account from what I can see a set of plugs are around £100 do you think this is a fair price overall?

Thanks for the feedback.

Have renegotiated the price and it’s now £485 for everything so it’s all booked in.
Also just got a good deal on 2 x new Pirelli 295/30/20 tyres at £439 balanced and fitted so should be all good for the MOT.

Before you confirm the Pirelli's have you looked into the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's?
A lot of people think they are a significant improvement over the P Zero's, I got the 2 rears (295/30/20) from Costco, £404 balanced/fitted etc

It has 2 new Pirelli’s fitted on the front so I’d prefer to keep them all the same at the moment ;)

That presumably includes plugs.
Did you confirm that they are changeable at 5 years not six?

Yes, that price included the plugs.

The schedule states 5 years or 80,000 miles for the V6, whichever comes soonest,

Must have changed spark plug interval for later models then

Looks like it’s changed then - worth making sure you check that’s it’s done and don’t fall through the cracks.

The 72 month schedule showing the change is: JLR 18 16_10_1E_1 v1 [i7]

Hmmm!
Mine weren't changed at 3 years but MY16🤔.

Hello

Just had my 3 year old F Type service today and the cost was including its 1st MOT was £531.63

Also would you believe a car only with 4089 miles failed the MOT !!! also they tried to update 251 intouch pro but it refused to let them as there is a new version coming out soon ?

all the best

My 3 year service and MOT in mid-March cost £320.33 at my trusted independent. And it passed the MOT. ;)
What did yours fail on?

Sorry forgot to mention what the failure was .. on the MOT it says Repair immediately (major defect)
which was - Headlamp aim to low Nearside .. so looks like they adjusted the headlight assembly and the re test passed, probably came out the factory like that, which you would of hoped was checked thoroughly .. but then my tyre pressures were all over the place.

Does make you wonder with all these cars with Illegal retrofit LED lights with the wrong beam pattern dazzling us all .. must be having MOT issues but then I suppose they just change them before the MOT TEST ... any way picked the car up nice and valeted and rained all the way home, but at least it got a little run
regards

My take on it is that if it's been serviced and fails the MOT the service wasn't done properly. You're paying experts to make sure the car is fit for purpose.

Fair point SCM

I have always been to the main dealer mainly to give no excuses about the warranty etc - even when the oil is changed I insist that the drain plug is used and not just sucked out.. and when they send me the video clip to my mobile phone I can see the oil draining out etc .. the rear diff all included in the service movie clip
At least you have some info to feel some confidence in the dealer, but unless you stand over them all of the time how would you know, plus these days with no dip stick you cant even check the oil colour like the old days .. saying that our Evoque has a oil dip stick but is a totally different engine

Also I done some research plus phoned the dealer and when you check the service schedules there is no mention of headlight alignment - the check sheet is a bit generic as just says check that all lights work, and if you look deeper again no mention of alignment even though you would expect this to be included.

but at least it was picked up and addressed also I have pinged a email to Jaguar to clarify if this should be included in the service ? will let you know what reply I get

regards

the same with the spark plugs how would you know if they were replaced? you cant see them, you just have to trust they were done.
