V6 s v V8

My car is US spec V6 premium. The exhaust has no valve ports. So this means that US cars can be different in having a “Passive “ exhaust, whereas all UK cars are all “Active”.

I have owned both the V6 and the V8. There is no comparison. I used to hate hearing that as a V6 owner, but the V8 is an absolute monster and definitely the one to get.

The V6 is amazing but once you try a V8, you won’t be able to stop thinking about it.

My advice is to get one 2018 or before with the updated infotainment but before they brought in the petrol particulate filters. Then you get a slightly updated infotainment for Apple CarPlay but still the incredible noise that it makes.

I had a V6 coupe and now the V8 convertible. The top down fun never gets old.

Hope that helps.

The updated infotainment was only fitted to the late 2018s - you need the 10" screen without physical buttons.

With a budget constraint it’s worth considering you’ll get a better V6 then V8 for the same money (newer, less miles, higher spec).
There is a V6 400 edition that might float your boat. The most powerful V6 with some cosmetic upgrades.

OH! I am not 100% stuck on a Jaaaaaaaaaaaaag either....dare I say that. But I do have the dosh to buy 1 as a nice weather runabout. I did think about getting a MGB GT again...crashed my first, (and last 1) in 1980! BUT I know, night and day.....have been looking and wondering for ages on what to replace the Boxster S/Chim 4.2 HC/SLK 350 with. Must be a rag top, fast, small, 2 seater.....and NOT a feckin mx feckin 5...I hate them with a passion.....

Having sampled all of the above I settled on an F Type. They’re a great small GT that’s fun, involving and special. Rarer than most and always appreciated by onlookers.
I even get let out of junctions and thumbs up off other drivers!

With that car history and your budget I think the V6 would meet your requirements perfectly. I wouldn't rule out the 340bhp model either.
