Tapping noise from Supercharger V6

Hi,

I've been viewing a 2015 v6 (non S) Coupe with 43K miles on it which is for Sale at an independent dealer.

When I started it up on the forecourt with the bonnet up it sounded quite noisy... like a diesel. After about 5mins of running the car the sound was still there. So I thought it may have been the Supercharger making the sound.
The salesman said that they can get this checked by their mechanic's as it might be the coupler that is causing it.

I've just had a call form the dealer to say their service centre have looked at the car, they removed the SC belt and the noise went away (so that rules out the engine tappets) but they told me the coupler is fine and that the noise is acceptable for a SuperCharger and should quieten down once warmed up and that I should not be concerned.

This all sounds a bit odd to me.

Should I walk and ask for my deposit back??

The engine does not have hydraulic lifters so the valve clearances are not within spec until the engine has warmed up, hence the tapping, I have the same thing.

It should be quiet when the engine has warmed up though.

Mine does this. At the last service I mentioned it, and was told that it was ok. A new coupler might solve it, but so long as it quietens down when warm it’s ok.
