Software update: quieter exhaust

I’ve just seen one of the Instagram f type owners I follow saying that duckworths have against his will done a software update that has quietened the exhaust note. WTAF ? Is this a real issue? As I haven’t received my MY16 from the main dealer yet and they’re fitting a new exhaust, I’ve just sent them a note (guy salmon) saying do not let the technicians do any kind of update that affects the noise!!!!
Anyone else had any experience of this? I’m just hoping whatever I get doesn’t end up as the soft version of this car....

You might want to take a look at this thread that I started last year: https://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4228

I had the exact same experience - software update during a service and the exhaust noise was completely gone. I was gutted. However, I spent a few weeks driving the car like a maniac and over time the car learns how you drive and adjusts itself accordingly. Mine is now just as loud as it was when I got it. Hopefully the owner on Instagram will have a similar experience.

Hi, in short some dealers will update software if you do not ask the right questions. The other point to note is they some change setting of the dynamic mode, go into settings a place in back to factory settings. simpleR is the expert in this field and I am sure he will post soon.

Some software updates can affect dynamic mode and take it out of factory mode. See here:

Thanks guys. Stadidas, I think on my car (V6) I don’t have that adaptive dynamics - plus as it is a manual my understanding was that it can’t “learn” how I drive it? Anyway thanks everyone for those thoughts and fingers crossed!!

I bought a brand new MY19 SVR. After a few weeks, it went in for attention to one of the wings (minor issue, all sorted). Without me knowing, they did a software update and that was the end of the exhaust noise. It’s one of the reasons I got rid of it. Such a shame :|

A MY19 SVR in even if it is quieter than planned, will still be a lot more pleasing to the ear than a electric motor... F types are about smiles per mile, and I have not come across much that produces the same effect.

Mine is a V6 too, although automatic not a manual. The best thing to do is go out and enjoy the car, give it the beans and see if it springs back in to life. At least you'll have some fun trying!

I use my car daily, and some early morning starts make me cringe with the revs it goes through. Was a nice touch at first but now I'm finding it's unnecessary and theist thing I want to do is annoying my neighbours.

Apart from all the general quiet noise discussed in these posts I can't find anywhere if this software update stops this loud rev check upon starting the engine. Any people who have had this update got any idea about this please ?

Jaguandy, thanks have done this but doesn't really help me waking the entire street up every day ! Can anyone who has had this software update tell me if that initial bark / rev rise is stopped with the new software ?
Thanks.
