Pirelli p zeros cracking

Hi, has anyone else experienced their Pirelli pzeros cracking?
I have deep cracking all over both rear tyres (not the fronts).
Tyre wear is less than 50%, car mileage is 6500 (for reference fronts are less than 31% worn) and an independent tyre specialist recommended they need changing ASAP due to deep cracking.
Jaguar have told me that it's up to me to buy new ones and to take up the issue with Pirelli. Not best pleased to be honest.
I'm aware of tyres being a "wear and tear" item but there is clearly a problem with these tyres being unfit for purpose.

Anyone else have this issue?

No, mine have 15000 on them and are still fine. Lives outdoor too and was ex demo so doubt theyve had an easy life. And yes they are due to be changed at the end of summer!

I have the exact same Issue and was greeted with the same response. I think I am going to just leave the pirellis behind and get some Michelin PSS as chance of getting money back from Pirelli seems low. Stupid really as have 5mm of tread all around on the tyres but the cracking ruins all grip.

These are some of the LESS deep cracks quickly taken from the better of the 2 affected tyres. The tyre quoted as being dangerous I have changed already at my own expense and waiting to hear back (12 weeks Jaguar told me).
Some of the main cracks are in the main circumference tread groove and are around 1/4 of the tyre circumference in length each.

Just to emphasize about my cars condition and usage:

Mileage: 6500 from new

Rear affected tyres are less than 50% worn

Fronts (unaffected) less than 31% worn

Never tracked

Garaged every night

Same condition as mine, except mine are probably slightly worse (more mileage) I have gave up on the Pirellis. What dealership are you going to?

As mentioned these pics are from the better of the 2 tyres. The other one was stated as 'needs immediate replacement'.
What I find bad is that the tyres are specified by jaguar to be put on the product. I buy the product from jaguar (the car). The tyres are failing and have gone into (what isn't unreasonable to say) a potentially dangerous state and I am being told that the issue is pirelli and not jaguar and that I have to wait 12 weeks to possibly hear back. I don't think it is being taken seriously. There is clearly a problem with a bad batch or they are not fit for purpose.
It isn't acceptable for tyres with only 6500 miles and less than 50% worn to need fully replacing at £305 a pop from the dealer.
When I rang the dealer 9 days after they changed one of the two tyres they confirmed the tyre STILL hadn't been sent to Pirelli. Jag customer services basically said its pirellis issue and that if I feel the tyres are unsafe I should change them of my own accord.

Just been out to the garage to cheek....nope, nothing!

2015 May build, 6.6K miles and garaged.

Evening All,

I had severe cracking in one of my rear Pirellis. The cracks were deep around each of the radial grooves and not on the surface of the tyre that is in contact with the road as shown on your photos. I asked my dealer to pursue this as a warranty claim with Pirelli as this was clearly a defect. Pirelli was very slow at responding so as a result of my frustration and concern on having a defective tyre my dealer changed it FOC and said they would continue to chase the manufacturer. This tyre only had around 5000 miles on it.

So far the problem hasn't returned but I'm cautious enough to keep an eye on them.

Good luck.... John.

UPDATE:
Pirelli came back to me and Jaguar on both rear tyres:
The passenger rear (the worst one not pictured above) full refund for the new tyre.
The drivers rear (pictured above) 80% refund.

Very happy with the outcome even though it's taken a while. Not sure whether it was a dodgy batch or if it'll happen again in a years time but at least for now I'm riding on safe tyres.

good result -

I must've been lucky with mine - changed at 2mm all round with 30,000 miles from new - either lucky or I must be driving like a granny

Horrible tyre could not wait to get them off and fit some Michelin SS , went up a size to to protect the rims !! Massive improvement !!

Horrible tyre could not wait to get them off and fit some Michelin SS , went up a size to to protect the rims !! Massive improvement !!

Any adverse effects at all from doing this?? I presume you mean the tyre depth or are you wearing wider tyres?

Wonder why Jag don't fit them like this in he first place?

I have just put SS on too - you guys better be right about them being better! I didn't go up a size, tempting as it was to do so, just to stay as close to standard spec as possible.

My pzeros did have some mild cracking when we first got them, but it was never deep and fixed itself over time. They did 20k miles, a fair chunk of that honing up and down the alps, so can't have been in too bad a state ;)

Just so as I am clear, do you mean you have fitted wider tyres so that they stand prouder of the rim?

Went up 1 size front and rear to protect the rims better . Big improvement .

Tyre width or depth?

C'mon guys - share the knowledge, especially on how the car feels wearing deeper or wider (or both) tyres..
