New P300 owner

Howdy,

I have always loved the look of the F Type so was just waiting until circumstances allowed to pick one up. It had to be BRG as my grandad used to drive a BRG 924 Porsche which I loved sitting in, and I always liked the look of the Porsche 944 and then 968 growing up (but enough about Porsches! Don't care for their newer stuff anyway).

It seems BRG versions were few and far between so when one came up in my desired spec P300 (2018 + front sensors) 24k miles on autotrader I had to pounce. Pickup was 7hrs away but surprisingly it turned out the seller was an old family friend (impeccable servicing and detailing records etc) who kindly held it for a week while fending off inquiries until I could get up there to pick it up. Typically was a dreadful drive home with hours of lashing rain and standing water with stop-start motorway traffic, but hey ho!

Quickly got a ghost II immobiliser installed and it's booked in for a reversing camera install (need to ask on here advice between the boot lid option vs bumper for camera placement). It's a large upgrade on my previous daily (a mighty 2008 1.8 focus!). The P300 is more than enough power for me and I like the added milage. Single pic for now as It's due an appointment for lanoguard and then I need more advice from here on ceramic coatings vs UNC-R paint protection, having never had a car worth getting it done on before!

Cheers all

No drive in an F-Type is dreadful! And welcome to the club!

Congrats and welcome to the club! Great colour, isn't it. :) You really did the best kind of purchase there too - got an F-Type with a known and clean history. Since it's a facelift car, keep an eye on the left hand side DRL.

Congratulations on your purchase. A great car. Recommend a engine and gearbox remap which ups the power, sharpens the throttle and quickens the gearbox response.
I've also added a heated flat bottom steering wheel and climate seats.
A bit of a pain but worthwhile.

Congratulations on the new car, BRG is a very nice colour for the F-Type and I also find the P300 quite adequate for today’s speed camera riddled roads.

Welcome to the P300 owners echelon. Not sure about the re-mapping etc, have been tempted but worried about impact on my extended warranty, which as a pensioner, should anything really serious go wrong, I may not afford to repair.

Welcome from another BRG P300 owner!
Apart from a limited test drive, I'll probably never really know how different a V8, or V6, would be, but I can say unequivocally that I've found the performance and, importantly, handling of the 300 to be fantastic. Tested recently on the B roads across the north of England 8-) Surprisingly, apart from at the Jaguar Breakfast Club at the Lakeland Motor Museum, over 6 days the F-Type count on the road was zero!

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody. I find myself pretty much skipping to the car for the morning drive in these days, which makes a change. I'm based in Bristol but work in the periphery towns so many joyful A and B roads on the various commutes in. Yes, the LHS DRL seems fine so far - I understand it's best to keep the main headlights on whenever possible to extend the DRL life, as it reduces it's output by 50%? Thankfully reading around the topic it seems a relatively 'affordable' DRL fix isn't too far away so hopefully not quite the issue it was before?

I briefly looked into heated seats etc, but not top of the todo list so far. Seats are full black leather. No track stuff planned in the near future, the B roads are scratching that itch at the moment! I wouldn't rule out a remap but power is fine for now. The handling really is something else, feels so planted on the corners with the wider tyres and ofc is lighter on the front axel, which must help too. Off to do some research on paint protection as that's the next stage.
