New owner | but my F type isn’t normal!

Thanks, yeah best get it to a local specialist.

It looks like I have the smaller secondary battery in the boot, do these need externally charging or could this throw up the battery low massage?

If you're not fussy about having stop/start working, just ignore the smaller battery. ;)

Definitely best to have a specialist take a look at it to find where the coolant leak comes from. All these cars develop coolant leaks sooner or later, either in the form of cracking plastic pipework or a water pump on the way out. If it's still on its original water pump that would be my main suspect.

Great, thanks all!

And if anyone has any knowledge on the exhaust I have that would be great, or are they just tips? I can see the tips have been added but unsure if it’s to the stock exhaust or other.

Here are some video’s, doesn’t sound super loud from my iPhone mic, but it is!

On the exhaust your suspicion is correct and as confirmed by others. The back box is aftermarket and has replaced the oem completely, hence you have no difference open/closed and lost that functionality. In effect the installer has removed the valves and twin route box and replaced with a simple box and some added some aftermarket bolt on tips.
It doesn’t look to be good quality and not something I’d have on my car, but each to their own.
Possibly done if oem box failed as they are very expensive to replace and known to seize and rattle.
No photos of further up so cannot say if cats are there or replaced/deleted.

Gooner, just wondering why you did not do your research before buying? as you seam to have abit of a dog?

I wouldn’t call it a dog just yet ;-)

I got a good deal on the car, a few thousand less than others were charging, so with a new battery and the coolant leak fixed I should still be quids in.

It has full service history, low mileage and last serviced a few months back and being honest I was won over by it, with the tweaks it looks different to the average F-Type, it was very much heart over head.

I’d agree that if you have a big discount to market price it should be a good deal with just a few issues to resolve.
Hopefully nothing major comes out the woodwork in the coming months.

Hmmm... judging from the vids I can't hear any particular difference to the standard exhaust. I personally also think that the standard exhaust tips look much better and the active exhaust is one of the best features of these cars so I'd consider fitting a standard exhaust or at least something else with valves.

Late to the show. Why would you think it's an insurance write off?

What's the reg and I'll look it up Jaguar system.

Thanks for this, what sort of info would show up from the Jaguar side out of interest?

Reading the first post just raised questions in my head, it has had some extras that are different to the norm. From the pictures below you can see it has the SVR body kit installed, along with different wheels and a different exhaust, along with big discount?

Fair enough, thankfully it has no cat’s against it, someone has just spent some money on it. It wasn’t a big discount, just a few thousand less than some others, but I drove a hard bargain and the guy was waiting for his new car (Merc SL) to arrive so was keen to shift this one.

Thanks all again for your input on this, I’m taking it into JVT automotive (Jag specialist in Woking) next week for a once over, should be all good once they are done with it!

Depending on your experience with JVT you might also want to consider Tom Lenthall in Wokingham for any future work or servicing - top class knowledge and service.
