Hello everyone,<div><br></div><div>I've just put in an order for my F-Type S Coupe!</div><div><br></div><div>Very excited as it's my first new car for a long time and first serious toy <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /></div><div><br></div><div>V6S</div><div>IRR</div><div>Pan Roof</div><div>Red Seatbelts</div><div>Heated Seats</div><div>Parking Pack</div><div>Seat Memory Pack</div><div><br></div><div>I managed to find something that was almost built (possibly delivered to the dealer next week) and while not the exact spec I would have gone for (I probably would have had some additional options like the Meridian stereo, more exciting wheels, maybe sports seats), as I am not very good at waiting, having the car next week more than made up for that for me... <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /></div><div><br></div><div>Do you guys have any advice on the dealer options? E.g.,</div><div><br></div><div>I'm being advised to go for the Paint Guard. Is it necessary? Is it any good? Do the Jag dealers tend to do a good job applying it? Or would people advise getting paintwork sorted independently? If so any recommendations for the paintshop (central London if possible) or product? Treatments, waxes, polishes, film. etc. are all Greek to me!</div><div><br></div><div>Has the service pack been good value?</div><div><br></div><div>Any tips on dealer accessories like mats, luggage, etc. would also be much appreciated! </div>

Hi marq , welcome to the club. I was offered paint protection when I bought mine £400 salesman couldn't explain what exactly it was so I didn't go for it. I had a life shine system on an Audi rs4 which I thought was a waste money. As for dealer accessories I had sports mats and the 3 year service plan. Anyway car sounds great 👍

Congrats Marq, good colour choice ;)<div><br></div><div>I've never found anyone that says the dealer paintguard (Jag or any other firm) is worth it. You can get the same for a lot less from any mobile car valeter you find on Google, or you can get much better for a bit more if you take it to a pro-valeter which has their own workshop. No recommendations myself but hopefully others might have one or two.</div><div><br></div><div>Some may call it overkill but never having owned such a nice car before, I went the whole hog and had a clear film applied to the whole car (paintshield.co.uk)...certainly a LOT pricier than a dealer paintguard but arguably more protection (already showing signs of protecting me from several chips after 5000 miles). Although with a film, you need to be careful not to get too close with a powerwasher if that's how you choose to clean your car.</div><div><br></div><div>Mine is only 3 months old so not used the service cover yet, but at £1000/3 years or £1500/5 years, I'd recommend it as long as you plan to keep it that long.</div><div><br></div><div>Not bothered with any dealer accessories myself, standard mats are just fine but if you really want the luggage, you can usually get it for about £350 brand new on ebay.</div><div><br></div><div>If you're buying gap insurance, much cheaper online than from the dealer (again, this is true of all dealers, not just Jag). Mine wanted over a grand, I got it for about £350 online in the end.</div>

Should also say: don't be sad about not having the Meridian upgrade, it is hit and miss, on mine it is a miss (NOT worth £50, let alone the fortune I spent on it).<div><br></div><div>Wheels can often be found on ebay.</div><div><br></div><div>Sports seats are nice but the standard seats are just fine in my opinion (I stuck with standard).</div><div><br></div><div>So definitely not the end of the world vs. waiting 3/4 months for a factory-ordered one.</div>

Welcome Marq.<br>I think you made a good choice. That's a solid spec.<br>Can't go wrong...he says :-) <br><br>If you want to keep the car in tip top condition and hang on to it...get your use out of it etc... Then if it was me, I would find a pro-valeter with a good reputation and have the paintwork and wheels sealed from new....Give the car the best start in life and save yourself having to wash it every two seconds (which will only scratch the lacquer even more).<br><br>Service pack is worth it imho. You pay for it in monthly installments so it makes service time less painful....and it's even transferable if you sell the car on early.<br><br>

Congrats Marg. Your spec looks fine.<div><br></div><div>The dealer through the paint protection for free. I would not have paid for it. I think the Service Plans are worth it if you can pass them onto the next owner (which I think you can). </div><div><br></div><div>I got a quote for protective film for the whole car (£4K) and just the front (£1.5K). I'm still shopping around.</div><div><br></div><div>The long wait for the my car will kill me, so I can see why you made this choice. </div><div><br></div><div>Just smile :-)</div>

I got the paintguard for free - it works in that the car is easy to rinse down and shines up easily, but I certainly wouldn't pay £400 for it. I also got free mats, just by looking sternly at the salesman on pickup day ;) luggage I actually prefer my soft leather holdalls etc so didn't try for that, seemed there wasn't much wiggle room on it anyway surprisingly.<br /><br />I did pay for alloy wheel cover £200 for 3 years, which has already nearly paid for itself, parking a big car in London some scuffs are really just a matter of time...the paint cover I bought but haven't fancied using, I'm just not sure the touch up on a chip etc will be clean enough not to show up just as badly when the light hits it...<br /><br />Hth, good spec and good choice imo, you won't miss meridien.<br /><br />Welcome!<br /><br />Jess

<div><br></div><div>Does the car not come with any mats at all? Or is it just the upgraded mats you managed to snag?</div>

Always push for bits like fancy floor mats at the end of negotiations......squeeze the last dregs out of the deal right at the end....just saying..<br>

Haha good call.<div>So its just the upgraded mats then? I'd expect my expensive new car to at least come with some basic ones!</div>

Mine certainly arrived with mats (not fancy but perfectly fine), so I assume they're standard. Would be crap if not standard on a car of this price, but you never know!

There are standard mats (£0) and Sports mats which are thiner and have the word 'Sport' on them (£200). My dealer recommended to keep with the standard ones.

Mine didn't have mats (ex-demo, presumably they went AWOL at some point) there was a brief attempt to convince me that only ones in stock were an optional extra, stern look, no more charge was mentioned ;) I'm not accepting a 50k car with no floor mats! Jess

Having bought from new the matts are extra, as is the mirror on the sun visor. Having a camel interior I got camel matts free, but had to pay for the black standard matts.<div> </div><div> </div><div> </div>

<div><br></div><div>ha, those sneaky dealers!</div><div><br></div><div>I have an email pending with my dealer to ensure I get some mats!</div>

To clarify my poste above, I had to negotiate to get the camel matts at all! Let alone free!!! In the French translation to the order form they talk about camel carpet and matts, in the uk version it concerns only the carpet! The MY2016 does not have camel coloured matts!!!!! So my camel matts are only for special occasions

Confirmed with my dealer standard mats are included.<div>Its something, at least hah</div><div><br></div><div>How much difference is there between the standard and premium mats?</div><div><br>I always worry that premium mats are a marketing tool.. </div>
