Hello everyone

I’m new here, looking forward to catching up. I purchased an R75 coupe last year and was loving it. Sadly it was stolen (professionally) last week and I replaced it with same but convertible.

Love the car, but a general warning. I was not made aware of the security “update” and I suspect my car was a victim of key relay attack (no alarm). So I suggest you have dealer perform the update and obviously RF pouch for keys.

Apologies if this is old news here, but as I said just starting to read.

Sorry to here your car was stolen, can I ask what security update you are referring to?

I believe there was one to stop people programming a new key using the obd2 but I wasn't aware of anything to stop key relay theft which I believe you suffered.

There was no campaign specified, I just noticed a "subtle" note on my first oil change service about "Security update" and it appears they are making changes to the keys and the programming to help strengthen attacks on the keys (JLR). I made sure it was applied to the convertible before I picked it up, and interestingly I received a piece of paper mail the following week from JLR president about how much money they are spending to improve security for thefts and mentions the "update" briefly. I believe Range Rovers are a big target for the attack as they are desireable and expensive.

Needless to say I also now have a wheel lock!

N874 and N888 (depending on MY) I think. Updates to the body control module. To prevent the car starting without keys being physically present or something. Might also have better key encryption too.

Sorry to hear your coupe was stolen, thieving W️’s
I would suggest putting a Ghost in your new car, key relay theft won’t take it then.
Small price / percentage against cost of a R75 imo.
I would think insurance premium hike after theft would have covered some or a big chunk of the cost of a Ghost.

Thank you, very informative. My only frustration (besides with myself for not locking the car away the night before) is that there was no obvious notification sent to me as an owner, as I had rescheduled my one year service a couple of times due to scheduling conflict and if I had been directly notified I ABSOLUTELY would not have delayed the security update.
