Just in regards to the Bluetooth. I found mine to be erratic too when I changed phones to a new Samsung. I basically had to go into the settings on my phone, turn on a developers mode and then go to bluetooth and set the bluetooth coms for the car to be an older format as the car doesn't recognize the new protocol properly leading to patchy connection and no phonebook sometimes

Other small niggles - the spoiler is a bit squeaky when it drops back down, I get the odd warning - often when starting the car I get a swift "stability control" warning. Last year the warning of choice was the SOS warning, two weeks ago I got (when driving round Swansea) the dynamic function warning - which could be the ride height sensor apparently - it went after restarting the car, and hasn't come back yet.....

How old is your battery? Random warnings can be due to low battery voltage, so make sure it's fully charged before attempting any diagnostics. I don't know how old your car is (out some details in your signature!) but if it's on the original battery and is getting on a bit, it could be a sign that the battery may be due for replacement.

Mine is MY16 - so almost certainly needs a new battery - I just changed the one on my Mazda after 10 years, as I was getting similar strange warnings. The start / stop doesn't do much either, unless I've taken it on a very long trip (like when I went to France), when it started to function, much to the annoyance of my brother, who I took with me.....

I should only need to change the battery (I know it's in the boot) - rather than the capacitor / tiny battery in the front of the car? I seem to remember hearing that Jags didn't respond well to battery changes, but they said the same about the battery on my Mazda, and I changed that without any problems.

The unique audio thing is the one I want to get - it was £500+ last year, but it wasn't top of my list - what with the other issues I had........having recently driven a few cars with android auto, it has enough usefulness for me, to want to get that upgrade .

I think I missed this reply from a few years ago - I have a Samsung (as does my boy), we've found that just connecting for music seems to help a bit (if that's all we are using them for). My daughter's Apple seems much happier, but then Android is always the bridesmaid for certain things.

Enable the developer settings on the phone and find the Bluetooth PBAP settings which is for the phonebook. Set it up as below. This work for me as my phone kept disconnecting, the phonebook wasn't working and music kept cutting out etc.

As far as know there's no battery in the front of the car - early models had two batteries (both in the boot), one full size one and a secondary smaller one to power "essential services" while the car was in engine stop mode. If the secondary battery needs replacing, just let it die and you'll never have to disable stop/start again! Dealers will tell you the new battery has to be coded to the car, but I've read posts in which owners claim to have changed the battery themselves with no ill effects (back pain from heavy lifting notwithstanding!).

The only reason to code the battery to the car is to reset the BMS which tells it that it has a new one so it can count the number of start/stop cycles, and monitor voltage and current output
