Well done WShudds, great Xmas present to yourself

Thank you! I am very privileged to own an F-Type! It was a nice experience taking my son with me who's just as much into cars, to see what's like inspecting and buying a car. He could not believe the sound it made when the engine is switched on and said this would definitely win the Carwow exhaust contest!

Considering we're approaching the end of ICE, I hope yesterday will stay in his memory.

Not if there's a V8 there! But it'd be a very close second ...

A very honourable 2nd place in that case! Another quick feedback on the pirelli P Zero tyres. They have 5mm tread left on the rear and 7mm on the front. I don't know if they're the OE version but they surprised me. Online commentary seemed to imply that the tyres want to kill you and I thought of myself drifting on M1 all the way back to Huddersfield 🤣

Not at all. I pushed the car in dynamic mode around bends and everything was pretty safe despite the pouring rain and 6C. I barely managed to break traction coming off a junction once but that's it. I was already coming to terms that'd have to spend 800 on new tyres right away. 😅

It's hard to make a judgement on the OE tyres until you've driven on them and the alternatives and for some time. 5+ years down the road on my F Type and both Pirelli and the Michelin PS4S and have no doubt whatsoever which is the better tyre. Others recommend the Contis, but you'll find few lovers of the Pirelli's.

I've also been a bit bemused by the excessively negative comments about the P-Zeros, especially from the guys on the US forum. My previous XKR was very tail happy, but that was on either Pirelli or Dunlop MAXX, and now the F-Type is sitting on Michelins I can't say I've noticed the "night and day difference" others have mentioned. And the AWD makes the car feel very planted, regardless of tyre (IME). Maybe I just don't drive it properly!

The Pirellis on my new V6 back in 2015 were absolutely fine for the first two or three winters it was only the following winter, when they were probably approaching 3mm, that they became terrible in cold wet weather.

I wouldn't replace the Pirellis unless they start giving you problems getting the power down, as that's just throwing money away for no reason. I think the PZero tread pattern changed around 2018, so the compound of today's PZero might be different to the early ones anyway.

I moved to the Michelin's at replacement time also. I have two sets of wheels, one with Michelin's and the other Pirellis. I reckon, the Michelin's feel slightly softer riding and a little bit quieter.

That's it, the P Zeros are ok until they get more worn or are driven in even lower temps. Then they easily lose traction especially in an RWD car. After finishing off the OE P Zeros on my car I switched to MP4S and they definitely grip better but it's not night and day. The P Zeros gave me a few brown pants moments even in dry summer conditions but that never happened with the Michelins. That said, no stress with the tyre change.

And then of course if you intend to drive it frequently in the winter in sub 7 degree temps winter wheels go without saying. I run OE Sottozeros during the winters and think they're fine.

I have no issues with the P-Zero.

(With the correct homologation tyres, AMS rear and J fronts are correct for mine with correct tyre pressures).

Completely ok in the warm/summer. In the colder months, when they do start to slip and let go there is a lot of feedback and the slide is gradual and easily controllable.

Regarding the MY of the P Zero tyres, rear ones are from mid 2019 and those at the front were made in 2021. Maybe they got better?

Brilliant exhaust note isn't it? One important and super simple mod to get to hear the exhaust better is to block the utterly pointless symposer. There should be a thread or two about that on here.

The temperature gauge can be a bit confusing at first sight. This is the way it should look when it's fully up to temp. That is, the little white arrow should be right in the middle. Didn't it look like this?

Just a quick update, the temperature reading is indeed OK 🙌🏻

Does anyone run on 19" wheels? I had to inflate the tyres today as the warning came up at 32psi. I put them on 37 psi as indicated in the dash but wonder if anyone has a different opinion?

Thanks.

Read on some tyre sites for 3.0L V6 is 36psi? Though if you are reading the tyre label as 37 I would say it’s more accurate. My own certainly states 37 and if filled to 37 when cold that will raise by a few pounds when driven. For extreme high speeds i.e plus 155mph the recommendation is higher. (In the UK 😳 never ) but certainly wouldn’t want to be lower than the standard recommendation.

That's very kind of you, Tony! Thanks for the invitation. I commute every day to Barnsley (Dodworth) so I'm familiar with the area. 👍

The dash display will show the recommended pressure in brackets under the actual reading. I've found mine drop pressure when the temperature drops, so when we have a cold spell, I have to reinflate the tyres to 37psi.

I first noticed the two recommended pressures under the vehicle settings menu, 37 for normal use and 41 for high speed but I wondered if that's a generic recommendation or if it's been adjusted to my wheel & tyre size.

As long as that is the car you want then welcome to the club. However you seem unsure on the spec against what you wanted.

There are 214 manuals out there somewhere. Of which only 68 are the more desired S (380PS).

2012 Total = 0
2013 Total = 0
2014 Total = 0
2015 Total = 60
2016 Total = 63
2017 Total = 33
2018 Total = 46
2019 Total = 10
2020 Total = 1 (older model)
2021 Total = 1 (older model)

I'm curious to know, where did get these figures from?

Hi all, I'd like to know people's opinion on whether I should black out the chrome trims (grille, side vent and around the window wrapped in piano black) or keep it stock?

I'm torn between the two options so if people here could share your thoughts, that'd be great.
