My car projects

As I am very fussy engineer, I gave the car a basic service last week as detailed on the JLR service sheet and using genuine JLR parts and It will be getting a full JLR service next year when its due to keep the service history correct. Changed engine oil & filter. Replaced the air filters. Replaced the rear diff oil, plus other items & checks.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but I bought this footrest plate earlier this year and I'm happy with it

That looks good, guessing just screws in place
@jagbob how did your plate fit are there pre drilled holes? If not any risks of drilling into anything important 😬

Its fixed with supplied 3M bonding tape.

After reading on several forums of people leaving the car keys in the boot and closing the boot and having problems getting boot access. I have today fitted a strong string to the boots internal T handle and threaded it to rear of the drivers seat. Hopefully when I leave my keys in the boot I wont need to try and get access via the removal of the parcel shelf.

I have also fitted some knock on rubber trim to the top front edge of the arch liners to help prevent dirty water getting splashed up from the wheels to the underside of the bonnet.

With keyless entry why would your keys ever leave your pocket?
For me it's because deactivating it is one of the simplest methods to increase security by countering 'relay theft'. I also leave it on the centre console when working on the car so it doesn't keep locking. I work on the car in a locked garage before you ask :)

Fitted a Viezu Paramount cols air filter kit today.

At first I fitted the intake Viezu pipe work to the standard air filter boxes just for interest and went for a test drive. The results were just normal as using the original pipe work. I then replaced the standard air boxes and fitted the Viezu supplied cone filters. The results were far better with a supercharger noise and from approx 3k rpm. Also noticed when I had Pirelli rear tyres fitted it use to spin the rears when turning right from road junctions then I went for Michelin PS4 tyres and the spining stopped. Since fitting the Viezu air kit the rears are spinning again. Viezu quote up to extra 20bhp but its certainly gained something. It would be interesting just to replace the standard air filters and fit cone filters to the standard Jag intake pipe work.
