Meridian upgrade options?

Hi yes indeed they want ridiculous amounts to do what is not a difficult task. I would be happy to assist but it depends on which part of the country you are and if you can source the speakers. I managed to get the mid range and tweeters from a non Jaguar source but opted for new Jaguar subwoofers at £89 plus vat each. To get all from Jaguar would come in at over £500.

I've had a look at this and the replacement of stock with better OEM speakers seems pretty straightforward as does the acoustic matting. Some very good videos on YouTube with full instructions on how to do it.

Any recommendations on sourcing? Most I've found are coming from Lithuania, so I'm a little suspect.

I've now got 2 x upgraded Miss, 1 x Tweeter. Still hunting for there rest. It's actually quite good fun, gives me something else to do as a mini hobby during lockdown.

Okay, I have them all now, total price including postage £187.44. That does not include the acoustic matting, I'll be getting that this week.

My only issue is the weather and taking the door cards off, I need it to be less miserable...

Sounds a good price, would you share where you got them from? look forward to hearing your thoughts on the improvement when you've done it.

I'm doing all 3 door speakers and the acoustic matting, not made a decision on matting supplier yet

I've gone for upgraded OEM speakers and the sources were Ebay and Britcar.

With Ebay there are a mix of new and used items, with prices to reflect that, I found you can also haggle a bit with most of them. They normally offer one speaker at a time and when that sells put the next one on. I offered to buy both at a set price and also then saved on postage for each item individually.

Britcar is a supplier of new parts, just got to be positive you have the right part numbers.

Tweeter - AW93-18808-AC (C2D30486, C2D30486 alternatives)

Mid - AW93-18808-BC (C2D2076, C2Z3438 altenatives)

Bass - CPLA-18808-FB (C2D24861, LR047119 are alternative part numbers)

Bass speakers are hardest to find, I'm also considering using the frame of the old bass speakers as templates for adaptors to install some aftermarket one's..... But, I need to get in the door first and have a proper look at space etc.

Sorry if this has been covered - do you have the base non meridian system in your f type? there is no bass speaker installed in the base system if i believe ?

I guess i will replacing my standard speakers sooner than i thought although only mid and tweeters since no bass one in the base audio

I have a 2018 F type R and I have never been satisfied with the Meridian system. I have done some research and it strikes me that Jaguar did not commission a sound system unique to the F Type instead they simply used existing systems from existing models, specifically the x351 (XJ) 2010-2012 and I believe in some cases the Range Rover.
The x351 came with two systems, the standard and the premium, they fitted the standard speakers to all F Types, rather than use the premium ones.
I have acquired a full set of premium speakers for my car which comprises of 2x titanium tweeters, 2 x mid range 4” Kevlar coned speakers and 2x 8” premium Kevlar coned subwoofers. Total cost £278. I intended to use sound deadening dodo mat (20sqm) £29.99.
So £300 to upgrade. I will wait for warmer weather to do a good job of the sound insulation. Will keep you posted. Ludders

Is that new prices? If so can I ask where you sourced them?

That's actually a relatively cheap option, do the matting at same time whilst your in there.

New is over £400, through Britcar. Over £100+ per Bass speaker.

Hence my question. Wasn't sure if there was a source Google couldn't find.

I found a few other sources, but they were not as detailed as Britcar and the prices were broadly identical.

I struggled with their site Search engine and found that searching through Google with part number found it more reliably on there site.

RomanticTuna, have you considered changing the centre console co-axial speaker? I believe there's a simple take out, drop in replacement.

I had also looked at the possibilty of replacing the speakers behind the seats, but I don't believe there's simple replacement for those. Unless you know otherwise through your investigations?

(Still working through part numbers and prices for all this.)

I don't have the 770W Meridian surround system, just the 380W Meridian, so the centre isn't there, otherwise I would definitely be looking at that too.

The subs behind the seats are a bit of a nightmare to do, so unless I get really upset by them, I'll live with it for now.

If you get stuck with any part numbers or stuff like that, let me know and I'll link you to what I found.

I've managed one door this weekend.

The door card removal was pretty easy, the sound deadening was straight forward and the speaker replacement was simply plug and play.

Second door to do when I get the time, also thinking of lining the boot.
