Long term Ownership

Its great to get feed back from everyone on here, what i would like to know is how long have you guys/girls owned your cars and do you intend to keep it long term, if so why, i've never managed to keep my cars longer than 2 years as i get bored but i want this one to be the one i keep, i don't do many miles as it would be a weekend driver but as i have young kids it wont get used much at all, sitting in the garage wont do it any good either but the car i've found looks perfect for a keeper and a dream car, i've not 100% committed yet as in handed the cash over.
thaughts please

Although I’ve only had mine since March I intend to keep it as long as possible as it’s everything I want from a car, I can use it everyday but also enjoy just going out for a drive for fun. It’s amazingly comfortable for me so long journeys are also great. It’s not too expensive to insure and even fuel use is manageable! Other people like seeing it too and will let you out of junctions etc.

Also, there’s a very helpful forum if you do get any issues...... :D

I've had mine more than 5 years. I haven't seen anything that I d want to replace it with, so I'd imagine it's staying until something more gorgeous and practical comes along.

For example, the Ferrari Roma is lovely, but then as Sam from Seen through Glass pointed out, it looks a lot like an F type, but at 4 times the price, nah. Same with the McLaren GT, nice but not enough at those prices.

I'm hoping the next Ftype looks something like the CX75 bond car. I'd have that even if it was electric.

i too have lost shedloads of money replacing cars on a regular basis, last year i decided to get a daily runner for shopping, commuting etc, this left me to buy a keeper which will be kept for enjoyment only. i still feel exactly the same now, no intention of parting with this car in the foreseeable future. everytime i drive it it feels special.

I also normally change my cars frequently, but not the F-Type.
Every trip out is an occassion and just looking back at the car after the trip😍😍😍

I’ve had mine over 5 1/2 years. Bought it at 6 months old with 1k miles. To be honest, me and the wife still love it to bits and every drive is still an occasion. We can’t wait for this horrible virus to go away, then we can get on with seeing the rest of Europe.

I did think about changing it for another newer F Type, but it just was not different enough to justify the £30k + cost to change.

The newest version, I don’t like what they have done to the front, the original F Type nose is a classic Jaguar style.

No plans to change.

Like GusA, I got mine in March just a few days before lockdown. That, combined with life in general (the reasons behind buying the car in the first place) mean I haven't spent anywhere close to the amount of time I wanted to do in driving it. However, 9 months later, I look forward to each drive, from the moment I start the engine to the moment I get back home. Every second of being inside the car is a pleasure and it serves the exact purpose I bought it for, to take my mind off how crap everything else in life is right now.

I intend to keep mine for many many years to come.

They'll have to prise the keys from my cold dead fingers to get mine from me! Still a hoot to drive after 2.5 years (and counting ...)

Mine's a keeper. I've admired the F Type since it first came out and eventually decided "life's too short....". I bought mine 15 months ago and haven't regretted it for a second. It's great to drive, looks and sounds fantastic and seems to attract admiration everywhere. I still enjoy it just as much as the day I collected it. 🙂

I have similar thoughts to many here
Had her 3.5 years and a long term keeper. Last Z4 was 10 years and only traded as I could get the F. I see the F Type as the best I can get without a £50k cash add
Still passes the look back each time I park and smile whenever I start her tests :)

Also 3.5 years, love it, am planning on taking it to Australia with me next year. Smile every time I drive it.

Not certain how I am going to cope with the Aussies zealous speed cops 63kph in a 60 zone and they do you...

Better find a Friendly track quickly

Thanks most seem to be classic Jaguar owners but have used their advice on import car insurance.

you need to post a pic on the favourite colour thread :D

I plan on keeping mine for as long as I can. I've never been one to change cars every 2 years. It does it all for me. The power (which I never get the chance to use) and the looks.
My other car love is Ferrari ! Even if, one day I buy a Ferrari (dream), I'll still have the F Type. While a Ferrari is striking, the F Type is beautiful and a timeless design.

It's not a cheap or practical machine, but hey, life's not a dress rehearsal.

The F-Type is emminently practical - i can get a full week's shop in the boot, and it's a dream to cruise around in. if there's anything that won't fit in it, then it's clearly not something I need.

If it doesn't suit your lifestyle - I'd suggest it's your lifestyle that's wrong, not the car! I do agree that a Ferrari is not a practical car, though.

Don't get me wrong mate, I have NO regrets with the FT.
practical in so far as I really plan where I going before I take the jag.
Multi storey car parks, kerbs, do present a challenge

It handles the weekly grocery run with aplomb.

Ah yeah, multi-storey car parks aren't part of my lifestyle! I prefer to drive it, not park it ...

Multi-storeys are a game of two halves - full lock and high kerbs - but the sound gets those grin muscles working hard.
