Hoping to become an F-Type owner

I can get an excellent low rate for a PCP purchase with my bank rather that use Jaguars finance which has sky high rates! There can be something like £150 - £200 a month difference with my own banks rate and Jaguar's rate.

The world is divided into those that like white cars and those that don't and I'm afraid that I fall into the latter category and who'd want a white car anyway when the black one looks so stunning :D

I'm in a similar position to you and will hopefully be buying a 2/3 year old AWD car in the next few months but I'm interested to know whether Jaguar's interest rate is negotiable as 10.9% is rather high especially when accompanied by the low GFV on most F Types

I can get 4.9% though Halifax. I don't think other banks offer PCP on used cars, it's a Halifax thing for their own customers as far as I'm aware. Alphera and Blackhorse and much lower than Jaguar and seem to be around 6.9%. Jaguars interest rates are far too high...

No way will I ever use dealers finance with high rates.

Did the dealer get you finance through Alphera or did you have to sort it yourself?

Yes you get a £750 MOT voucher, from the T&C's covers most things including pads which is nice.

(and a £250 insurance voucher to go towards your excess in the event of a claim when you take out the free 7 day drive away insurance)

I'm guessing tyres aren't covered with the MOT voucher?

Its a bit vague, the opening statement is that all consumable items are not covered. But later on in the details it says pads are covered but shoes/disks etc are not. I would expect an argument at the time!

Both of the cars have quite low mileage - the white one has 11000 miles and the blackberry 9000 so hopefully either one shouldn't require too much maintenance over 3 years.

I used magnitude finance, I don't remember the rates off hand but they were reasonable or I wouldn't have done the deal ;)

Blackberry for me, I have seen one & when the sun hits is out it looks incredible. Carbon ceramics are brilliant. My pal has a GT3 with them, took me out, came flying down to a roundabout to the point where I thought he had not seen it & my foot was through the floor on my imaginary brake pedal then he hit the brakes laughing, my god, the retardation was unbelievable. They last forever, he has done over 60000miles still no discernable wear on either discs or pads. (check them out on the Porsche forum). If removing a wheel do not have it hanging on or hitting the disc. Make sure any tyre fitters know this. I would not be rocking up to a customers house in it or they may be querying your pricing, use your van. They will be quite impressed if your van is sparkling

That's reassuring to hear about the minimal wear over that mileage!

Most of my customers I get through Facebook so the first time they see me is when I'm turning up to do their car! An odd customer I go to see first the task at hand.

I've got an Aston Martin DB9 and a BMW i8 to do later this week.

I did this bad boy just before Xmas... 2016 R8 V10 Plus.

Lovely job, I get all my cars detailed with Gtechniq ceramic coating which I think is really good. It makes it so easy to clean them, even the wheels. (snowfoam, then snowfoam shampoo, 2 bucket method, microfiber cloths). I usually give them a top up with quick detailer which takes about 5 mins per car. I am pretty ocd about having a clean car. Had a look at the Blackberry one on A/trader, looks good. I am not a fan of Alcantara especially on the steering wheel as it tends to get pretty horrible fairly quickly, but as a detailer you can sort that out. I see it also has Gtechniq & PP film all over which in itself is expensive & good. Check out the Jag warranty as it does not cover everything that the manufacturers warranty covers. Unless you are doing big mileages, it should not matter too much about the warranties. Hope you enjoy whatever one you go for

Sorted it myself.
I've used Alphera for my last 3 or 4 cars and always through the same person there.

Did you manage to haggle the cash price even though you weren't taking out the dealer's finance?

The 2 cars in question are £55k and £61K - wonder if there's room for haggling on that cash price even though I won't be using their own financing.

Yes I thoroughly enjoy what I do - it's basically an extension of my hobby. I wonder if more F-Types will come up which are 2-3 yrs old now that I'm guessing some would have been traded in for a different car on 1st March?

I financed mine via Jaguar which was 4.9% APR at the time.

Didn't get much off
Full tank of fuel and a few bits and bobs done on the car.

Still, 5% Apr saved more money than a slight discount on the price

I bought from a specialist dealer (not Jag) and got a bit off and a very good trade in on my existing car..

I have a 65 plate VW Scirocco which has only done 5100 miles. It's on PCP but have some equity in it. I will see what the dealer will offer for it if I go ahead. Alternatively, I'll but it outright and try and sell it privately.

Looking at A/trader valuations for buying, the Blackberry is valued from a dealer £58620 to £64790 but there will be a premium for ceramic brakes I suppose. The pp film is expensive. I was quoted around £425 for the bumper only.
The white one is £52810 to £58370
There should be some room for negotiation as who is buying an F type just now especially with this weather

The white one was dropped from £59990 to £56600 last week...

The Blackberry has just went on, I wonder if I hold out a week or two the price might drop below £60k... but then again, it cold be sold by the time I finished this sentence!

I'm in no immediate rush to get one - but within the next 4-6 weeks to coincide with the better daylight and better weather (hopefully!)

BlackBerry for sure, have it detailed and ceramic coated and go enjoy yourself ... and having owned a dark Coupe I would also suggest PPF for at least the front bumper and leading edges of the rear arches.

As for pads, there was a thread a while back that indicated around £750-850 per axle for replacement pads. On the upside, they are pre-bedded in so will give you optimum performance straight out of the box. There will be cheaper options but if you budget for these every 20k miles is it really an issue? Discs are good for around 100k miles I believe.

I was also told by several Jaguar dealers that no pan roof will kill trade values by at least £5k!

By the way, just a thought on the pads, if its due a service before you do the deal and take ownership, try and have the supplying dealer install a new set ... ;)

Hi Paul - some good info there, thanks! :)

The white one doesn't have a panoramic roof, I would prefer it did have one...

The Blackberry one isn't a Jag dealer so perhaps won't be able to haggle about new pads, other Jag extras?

No pan roof would be a deal breaker for me, and a few dealers also warned me about values of cars without.
On the flip side, they *should* be cheaper to buy in the first place.

I do prefer the panoramic roof - that's the only thing holding me back from the white one I'm looking at. If I'm going to be spending a lot of money then I want it to have everything I'm looking for.

I'm not overly fussed about the interior to be honest... it's the exterior I am concerned about, and chrome vents etc are a definite no.
