Headlamp covering

I have just had one of my LED headlamps replaced ( see DRL thread)
The lights when I got the car had a clear plastic cover stuck on, which I assumed were standard; but the new one doesn’t have this.
I assume it’s some sort of wrap type protection - is it worthwhile getting? I’m tempted to remove the cover on the original remaining lamp as it has stated to peel slightly and looks a bit like a delaminating window, just worried it will leave a mark.

Yes, it's worth getting, and no, it's not standard as SCM mentions.
