Having a bit of a panic about my new F-Type R

Evening all,<div><br></div><div>I sincerely hope you are having a lovely Easter and have taken the opportunity to get out in your F-Types in the lovely weather today - I'm pretty sure that the standard UK Bank Holiday weather will be returning in the very near future...</div><div><br></div><div>Anyway, onto the bit of concern I'm having:</div><div><br></div><div>My brand new F-Type R 2WD is now built and due for pick up in the next week and a half or so. Exciting stuff! And then today, I read a post on Facebook (the Enthusiasts Club page?) that is saying that Jaguar have been installing new ECU software that makes the car's exhaust significantly quieter when they go in for service. Now, should this be true, I can't imagine that this won't have been installed on new cars before they leave the factory.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm therefore a bit worried that I won't be getting the sound that I ordered (which sold the car to me in the first place).</div><div><br></div><div>My questions to you guys are these:</div><div><br></div><div>1. Has anyone noticed this being the case after they have had their car serviced? (V6 or V8, non-switchable, loud or quiet mode)</div><div>2. Has anyone picked up a 2017 V6, V6S or V8R recently and, if so, have you found the sound of the car to be a disappointment or everything you hoped it would be?</div><div><br></div><div>I know this is a proper "first world problem" but just hoping I'm not going to be disappointed after spending this amount of cash...</div><div><br></div><div>Thank you friendly Jaguar F-Type peeps!</div><div><br></div><div>Seb</div>

Hi Seb,<div><br></div><div>This has only been reported on 2 or 3 V8S's which are model year 2014, and the original guy that had the problem has now had it resolved.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm 99% sure there's nothing to worry about on the V8R model. Plenty of V8R and V6 models (including my V6S) have had the 'K309 oxygen sensor' update with no issues.</div><div><br></div><div>The thread that started this all off is below, but the last few pages are where the answers start coming through:</div><div><br></div><div>http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f-type-x152-72/who-brought-v8-just-because-sound-156684/</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

<div><br></div><div>Thank you ever so much for that reply. Having read the linked thread from start to finish (took me a while!), my mind is set at ease. I really feel for the chaps who have had the problem and it must be a very disappointing experience for them but it does sound as if JLR are working on a solution for them (finally).</div><div><br></div><div>I hope that anyone who has this problem gets it fixed swiftly. I'll be sure to let you know what I think of my car when I pick it up. Although built, it's taking a little while to get to the dealership from the factory. I'm feeling hopeful that it will be more than worth the wait!</div><div><br></div><div>Cheers,</div><div><br></div><div>Seb</div>

<div><br></div><div>Thanks for that Tel, I understand that and it was exactly the point I was concerned about. ie the V8R that I picked up on a 16-plate (2017MY) would sound significantly quieter than the one that I test drove (a 64 plate) or others that I had heard (a 63 and 14 plate).</div><div><br></div><div>In fact Tel, with yours being a 2016MY, I take it you are happy with the sounds it makes?</div><div><br></div><div>Seb</div>

More than happy with the sound!<div><br></div><div>That said, I'm semi-anxious about taking it in for its' first service though! Let's hope it doesn't loose the soundtrack!</div>
