Hi all, I've been utilising this forum for a little bit, whilst working on getting permission from the missus to get my hands on my very own F Type, and earlier this week, it finally happened!

Absolutely loving it. It's the first time I've had a car like this. The looks, the sound, the performance... I can only imagine what an SVR before the OPF got put in must feel like.

All my cars prior to this have been more sensible German affairs. They all seem to operate in a similar fashion. The way the Jag works, from the way the buttons and stocks feel, to the interior lighting work, it's refreshing.

I'm hoping some of you can help me with some questions I have:
1. is it normal that I can feel the car vibrate when sitting idle? It's a convertible if that makes any difference. TBH it feels amazing but wanted to be sure it wasn't a symptom of something major as the car appears to have sat in the trade for over 5 months before I got it
2. The heated and cooling seats take forever to get up to temp, and there's a faint fan sound coming from behind the seat. It appears to be a very different system to any other car I've had before, so I'm wondering if this is normal or I should get it checked out.
3. I was playing around with the spoiler and it appears to be stuck in the up position. It moves when I press the button, but only to go either a 120 degree angle or a 180 angle. I haven't tried going for a motorway blast to see if it'll reset itself. I may have accidentally put it in some sort of cleaning mode, but hoping someone here know's what I'm on about and knows how to put it right.
4. I was playing around with the driving modes today and just before I got home, I got a message on the dash saying that the car was in "restricted performance" mode. Didn't actually notice anything as I wasn't driving fast, and when I started her up again a few hours later the message was gone. Should I be worried?

I'm going to get the car serviced properly and have all these little niggles sorted, so not overly concerned about anything so far. Oh and the central vents sometimes get stuck but this is a known issue as I've read on here.

Still can't believe I have one. Beyond ecstatic!

Congratulations on a great choice. It looks stunning in that colour - very suave.

To help with a couple of your questions, the V8s do burble a fair bit on tick-over. It's hard to say if it's normal without seeing it but the idle is a little lumpy, especially when cold. Some audible engine tick is normal too.

Restricted performance could be one of many things and you'd need to see what codes come up during a scan. My guess from your description and the amount of time it's sat would be a low battery, which can notoriously cause quite a few weird glitches. Without regular use they can die pretty fast, especially in winter.

As you say, I wouldn't sweat too much - give it some love with a good service (with a code scan) and enjoy a fantastic purchase.

Welcome to the club! Give the battery an overnight charge and see if any problems still persist.

Welcome and congratulations. That's perfectly normal with the seats. They use piezo element heat and cool. They do take a little longer to get up and use a small fan to blow that warmth through the seat.

Did you buy from a dealer? I'd be in touch with them asking them to rectify the vent and spoiler, and investigate the restricted performance. If you bought it online without visiting their showroom you have either 14 or 379 days to return it depending on what you were told about distance selling. Was it sold despite needing to be serviced? On the spoiler, whilst stationary, a single press should raise it, but you need to press and hold to lower it again. When moving, it's a single press either way unless you're above the deployment speeds.

I bought it from a dealer remotely. I have got in touch with them and will be having a conversation on Monday on how best to proceed. The next service is due in May, and I got a couple of specialists near me to take a look at the service history and found a few things that weren't done at the appropriate time so I negotiated some money off the list price based on the work required.

No issue with the spoiler, just user error. Holding the spoiler button did the trick

Thanks @JonGreen, @Andyp123, @scm and @YorkshireSam for your responses. Good to know and looking forward to getting to know her better :D
