Gearbox lag

I recently bought an f type v6 s. Its my 3rd Jag and apart from the usual unchecked pre delivery faults I've had rectified I'm still experiencng a lag in engaging gear especially when driven more sedately. Driven harder it can feel like clutch slip. Ive taken it back and apart from resetting it to factory state, I've just been told it drives like all the others. Has anyone else experienced the same and is there a fix or is this another Jag design fault we have to live with?

Hi Steve. I can't say I've experienced anything other than immediate changes in my V6S so it doesn't sound right to me.<br /><br />I would take the approach that the dealer may well try to fob you off, so I would get them to allow you a test drive in one of their own so you can confirm yourself. Or arrange a test drive with another franchise dealer if they give you any grief.

I find it takes a second to 2 to move from a stand still in 1st when I want to dart across a roundabout it seems to take a while to engage but when it does it's certainly moves quick. Not noticed anything between the other gears. It's something I've got used to.<edited><editID>BirdingGal</editID><editDate>2016-01-01 20:27:09</editDate></edited>

Mine feels slow if I flip back to standard after being in dynamic, but its snappy on the changes in dynamicsports, especially when driven quickly when it becomes very swift indeed. 1st and 2nd do have some odd power control thing though that stops you feeling like (getting?) full power - that does feel a bit like slip to me having come out of a manual sports car.<br /><br />Jess

Once you've moved off after first starting, the autobox will not go any lower than 2nd...stops and starts in 2nd from that point onwards. I'm guessing there's some sort of torque limiter in 1st and 2nd which might explain a bit of initial sluggishness.
