First Service Cost ?

Hi Guys,<br />Interested to know what sort of charges you are getting from the dealers for the first service, just had mine today, £264.00 Inc VAT. They originally quoted me £296.00, however, when I questioned the break down, they were trying to charge £120 for the 6 litres of oil, but I know 5 weeks earlier I purchased a 1 litre bottle from the dealer parts department for £14.69 Inc VAT, so you do need a degree in maths to figure this one out !,,<br /><br />I have the V6S. <br /><br />When I purchased the car I was offered a 3 year service plan for £1500, which did not seem like good value, I know you guys are now been offered 5 years for the same money, which is good value, as I have requested the estimated charges going forward. For the V6S it would cost £1620 based on the current charges.<br /><br />The dealer suggested that I would be better off with a service plan now, to include services 2 through 6 covering the next 5 years and quoted me £2440, however when I asked why the 6th service was so high they said it was due to the supercharger belt scheduled to be changes, however when I asked for a separate quotation for the supercharger belt, it came to £160 Inc parts labour and VAT? so the moral of this story is, be wise, if you have the 5 year service plan for £1500 you are about £200 better off than the standard charges, however if you challenge them on the prices you should be able to find around the same sort of money in savings, so it would seem that it is not really a deal !,<br /><br />Open for comments<br />JAMIE

ouch !<div> </div><div>Would be interested to see the break down for that bill, how many hours and parts prices.</div><div> </div><div>Best Regards</div><div> </div><div>Jamie</div>

Hi,<br><br>The schedule of works for a first service is mostly checks of levels - the only 2 items renewed are oil and filter, everything else is a simple check, much of which you could easily do yourself eg check washer fluid level, check brake fluid level etc. I can only echo Jamie's post that, if it were me, I would be wanting to see a full breakdown of time spent, parts used etc!!<br><br>As an aside, I've just had my first experience of my local dealers service levels - took them over a week to get a touch up pencil kit to me so I'm so, so glad I went elsewhere to buy my car! It's just amazing how the dealers vary!!<br><br>Hope you get a satisfactory explanation.<br><br>Regards.<br><br>Scoobydoo<br>

I've been quoted £415 inc VAT from Lancaster Jaguar, Amersham.<div>Stratstone Milton Keynes Wanted £455</div><div><br></div><div>They told me that the oil is very special and was developed specifically for the F-Type<span style="line-height: 1.4;">. </span></div><div>I looked on line and you can get Castrol Edge Professional 0w20 for £14 a litre. Must need a lot of oil.</div><div>So I'm trying to figure out whether they are going to fill the boot or the engine with it...</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

The F Type Jaguar oil can be purchased from the Dealers parts department for £14 per litre and the car take 6.5 litres, labour is less than one hour so retail it should not cost more than £240 inc filters !!

Thanks Selborne - I'll see what they say when I ask for a break down, otherwise will seek out local Jag specialist rather than main dealer.<div><br></div>

HA Fox in Cheltenham charged me £300 inc VAT. We started at the £415 list price & haggled. I know it might be more than others would charge but the service is excellent, the timing convenient & I always get to rag an XJ or XF in the meantime. I also graciously accept the free fuel that I'm not normally expected to replenish!

Thanks Drst. I brought the car from there.their customer service was very good. It's just quite a treck from where I live. I'll see if I can haggle with he guys at Amersham

These are the standard service costs I was given by a very reputable Jaguar dealership in the Manchester area a few weeks ago.<br><br>V6 340hp...... 1st Service £338...2nd Service £405...3rd Service £338...4th Service £549<br><br>V6s 380hp......1st Service £340....2nd Service £600....3rd Service £340.....4th Service £725<br><br>The majority of the extra cost I was told was the fact that the 's' has the sparkplugs replaced every other service unlike the standard 340 model.<br><br>Make of that what you will.<br><br>I went for the 3 year service package at £995. I hope it was the right decision. It seems to be when I look at these set service cost figures.<br>

Hi, Does anyone have any more info on servicing?<div>I am due a first service and the response I have had from dealers so far is mediocre at best and expensive from all.</div><div>I did have a well respected independent Jaguar specialist quote just under £200 with genuine parts used and all work recorded on the Jaguar online service system and they seemed genuinely interested unlike most of the franchised dealers.</div><div>The best Jaguar dealer quote for my V8S is £369 so far.</div><div>I will Post my experience once the car is done with how it went the cost, and where I choose.</div><div>It would be great if we built up a list of recommended dealers or specialists in different areas for members.</div>

The specialist is in Peterborough there is also one in Ely Cambs, dealers are Peterborough and Cambridge all are between 15-30 miles from me.<div>I don,t mind a bit of a trip out to get a service though as, I will get to drive the car <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" alt="Big smile" title="Big smile" /> and while its serviced Mrs G can get some retail therapy in a fresh location</div>

<div>Still looking for sensible service cost I found that Lookers are doing a three or five year service plan for cars within the first 11 months of registration. When I got my car the service plan had to be purchased within 3 months of registration so I missed out. I will not be eligible now due to my car being 2 weeks of its first birthday.<div>Hopefully this information may help someone else out there looking for a service plan.</div><div>I was quoted £403 for the first service yesterday, for an oil change an level check !</div><div>I don't mind paying for a service but I don't want to feel fleeced!</div></div>

Just an update on the servicing. I went to have the K309 update today and asked about my first service. I was quoted £280 all inclusive with local dealer and they are also going to see if they can put a package together for my cars future servicing needs.<div>Looks like I may be sorted<img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" alt="Thumbs Up" title="Thumbs Up" /></div>
