Favourite F-Type Colour and Why ?

Just a bit of weekend fun. Reading through dozens (hundreds) of posts on here I'm curious why we all favour the colours we chose for our F-Types.

When i was looking for mine, I thought I wanted silver/grey. Particularly liked the Ammonite/Corris Grey and darker Carpathian Grey and came close to buying one in Silicon Silver (still think it's the best of the silver/greys).

I ruled out white (too much effort to keep clean and I can be lazy at times) and black (didn't show off the curves well enough), although I love the ebony interior with yellow contrast stitch of the P400.

I liked the Italian Racing Red, the Sanguinello / Atacama Orange and the Ultra/Velocity Blue but all a bit "loud" for me. Didn't come across a Sorrento Yellow but as much as I like it, also in the same category.

Love the Portofino/Loire Blue and could easily live with one.

Then I came across British Racing Green and knew it was the right one. Classic colour, bit more conservative but still sporty, showed off all the curves. Got very lucky finding mine and it was a done deal.

I bought my SVR 2nd hand so didnt spec. Glad I was kept away from the spec as got Ultra Blue which I doubt I would have picked. I was a silver grey type person. So glad got Ultra Blue, I like that its loud in terms of colour. Changed my outlook on future additions. I'm all into bright colours now.

Yeah, mine was 2nd hand too. Looked through tons before finding mine. I wonder if age comes into it. I'm rapidly approaching 60 (gasp) and although I've always been something of an adrenaline junkie, I think I've got a bit more conservative with age.

Having loved my meteor grey TT for 4 years, I had to do some serious soul searching before buying a Caldera Red F-type....

By the time the dealer had moved it outside for the test drive, the decision was made ❤️

I'm still fond of metallic grey but like a Lotus, an F-type calls for bright colours IMO.

That Caldera Red does look stunning 👌🏻

I don't find white shows the dirt too much, and I'm lazy! I din't have a favourite F-Type colour - there's isn't really any colour that stops the F-Type looking fantastic!

I went carpathian grey classy and subtle - I’d had 3 white cars on the trot even though I do like a white F Type.

If I was buying brand new probably
Silver - easy to keep clean or Bluefire

I do like metallic black but it’s b*gger to keep clean

Good point, it's truly a beautiful design / shape whatever the colour. But people do have their preferences and pride in their choice. I guess in some cases colour might have been secondary to the spec / number of toys.

The F-Type really looks good in any colour. When I looked I excluded all black and white cars though. My last Jag was ultimate black metallic which looked fantastic but was a pig to keep looking pristine. Italian racing red and the different shades of blue felt like the most interesting colours. BRG was so rare that it wasn't really on my radar. Then this BRG car with the perfect spec, unbelievable interior spec and perfect wheels showed up so it was a no brainer.

I'm obviously a fan of BRG on the F-Type... has this cool duality - can be quite dark and subdued but also really pop and feels so right on this quintessentially British car which is so much about heritage. It's not very practical though, just a bit more practical than black. It was nice to see how much more popular BRG became during the last few production years.

I think there are surprisingly few silver metallic F-Types. If I'd spec a new one I'd probably go for BRG, IRR/Firenze or silver.

In these interesting times I think a degree of stealth is no bad thing. After owning a Firesand (ostentatious, moi?) the Carpathian Grey seemed the right choice for both discretion and complementing the wonderful lines of the car. And of course it is differentiated by a ludicrous degree of shine. Doesn’t show the dirt much either. Here she is in France a few weeks ago. Word to the wise; if you park up at the ferry terminal in Ouistreham to visit Sword beach be very careful leaving the car park. It is tight getting up to the barrier exit reader and I kerbed the offside front as I left…grrr. Much sympathy from the French border security team as we headed for the ferry, they heard the scrape as they left the terminal. Everyone loves these cars.

I was the same. I was utterly convinced I wanted a metallic grey, but I either always go grey or black. I saw the car I went on to purchase in the exact spec I was looking for but in caldera red. It was love at first sight but took a few weeks to convince myself i wouldn’t regret it. Best decision I made as I love it.

I think any colour looks good on IMO the best looking car ever!

I think the classic colours like the silvers, greys and BRG look particularly good because of the brand heritage etc. Could be my age though!

Really happy with my latest :D

If it weren't such a ridiculous amount of money then I'd have gone for the SVO version of Portofino Blue that was available at the time I ordered mine. I think it was called Constellation Blue, or something like that. There's something about a dark blue that ticks the boxes for me, so that's what I went with and I haven't regretted it for a second. The only other colours I'd consider would be BRG, or if I wanted everybody to look at me (which I don't), then I'd pick the bright yellow.

As someone on the lookout for their second F-Type (first one being Salsa red) it has to be Firenze, Caldera or Bluefire. I was considering Eiger grey, but not sure it stands out enough even with the contrasting black pack. Perhaps if it was a daily car. Would also consider any interesting\bright SVO colour.

Definitely a no to white and black. Especially black, nightmare to keep clean and why hide all those lovely lines. There's a reason "larger" people tend to wear black

I completely agree with that. Got a good pic ?

Only one I’ve got is this - looks ok to me :) IMG_4494.jpeg

Thanks for posting. As you said, classy and subtle. Gorgeous.

Can't believe you only have 1 pic. I've only had mine 6 weeks and I have about 100 😂

I think a lot of us have been caught like that when you see it in the flesh for the first time 😂

I turned up with a whole list of sensible questions about the history, spec and condition, but the moment I saw mine I knew I wanted it :D

I even took my financial advisor with me, aka my 9 year old and car enthusiast son, who was even more attached to the TT than me, to keep me from buying it. As we pulled up he said: Dad, we will only trade the TT if the F-type is a 10 out of 10 ok?

When he heard the dealer firing it up and moving to the front of the shop he immediately looked at me and said "it's a 10! It's DEFINITELY a 10!

I'll never forget that look in his eyes.
