Thank you. It’s a Storm Grey V6S Coupe.

Car 31590. If car was double locked (press lock twice and alarm will cherp which also deadlocks the doors) then even with a smashed window the doors would not open without a key.
Interesting this is the third theft of this type (2 F-Types and 1 XE however the XE one the door opened straight away) all with limited footage in London. The video will be interesting purely how long it takes them to get it moving as car 31590, like the other one, has the software update that does not allow a new key to be coded via OBD port without fitting a whole new control module.

It is logged on Police National Computer - posting below so it appears on Google if anyone searches for the reg plate as it has contact information.

Thanks so much for posting this.

Yes, I had double-locked the car, which I thought was sufficient to protect it.

When the window was smashed, the alarm was activated (my neighbours were alerted) and I understand the alarm is only activated when it is double-locked.

However, they somehow managed to get in. The footage I have unfortunately doesn’t show how long it took them to get into the car; only them driving away! But from eye witness statements, it was just a matter of seconds, perhaps a minute at most.

Often wondered about the double lock preventing the doors opening. Yes true no doubt but it is still merely a mechanical device and I am sure it is not that hard to open if you really want to.

Sorry I missed your message but have replied.

I had written a long reply but on reading it back it just displayed my frustration with the security issues we see with these cars. There is much debate about trackers but could I suggest the all owners have a look at the following thread and comments from those who have had these extra immobiliser fitted. Reasonable price and when all else fails your car is not moving unless they bring a crane lift.

Here’s some of the forum info on the Autowatch Ghost-II CANbus Immobiliser:

Those links don't work when clicking on them (unless you copy into a search engine) so here they are again......

Thank you RSPN !

I have had the Ghost for 5 months now and it helps me sleep at night but I still find myself checking the App and looking out the window at night. The Ghost fitter (who do not tell you where they fit it in your car) stated that manufacturers were looking at fitting these immobiliser modules as standard in future vehicles as they are so effective but that does not help us as current owners! The sequence you choose to unlock the immobiliser becomes second nature after a few attempts so do not let that put you off. I do not use the phone proximity part of the app as I want by car to be stone dead and not subject to any relay bypass type tech - so if I am not physically there putting in the sequence the engine will not start. Interesting to see if the recent rise in prices of used F Types means there will be an increase in thefts. I wonder if JLR have any information for owners about better security or advances in technology they may recommend? I will be interested in any advice to keep the car safe ?
What have the Romans ever done for us……

The above is my opinion. I have contacted JLR internally for further information on security on OBD and KVM read only operation changes since 2015. (Car 8000 ish and later).

Did you ever get a response to this? Or does anyone know if thieves have got around the fix to stop people steeling cars via the obd?

I've gone round and round on if to get an obd lock or ghost 2 and after much reading and thought I had decided it wasn't required.

I don't have keyless entry so assume relay theft isn't a risk. Therefore I'm thinking no to ghost 2 or faraday box.

And it is a MY21 car which I thought means the update stops programming a key via obd2. So I also thought the obd2 lock wasn't needed.

However reading Tim555's recent theft has got me doubting again, plus one person in this thread was after the 8000ish cutoff which also points to the obd still being vulnerable.

Anyone know for sure?
