F-type reactions

In the three weeks I've had my F-type I've had more positive attention than 3 years in a 911. People seemed to genuinely despise Porsches round here but it's all change and I've never been let out at junctions so quick! The other day I caught someone winding down their window to listen to the exhaust; several kids shouted "nice car mate" at me the day before, and on the way to work today I saw a whole load of kids taking pictures on their phones! I have to confess that I have started to enjoy startling pedestrians with a timely overrun crackle too..<img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" /><div><br></div><div>I'm sure it's not just me, I'd be interested in your reaction stories too!</div>

Yes, getting let out at junctions is never a problem maybe a one or two car wait at most, if at all. Also, I find the traffic on dual carriageways just seems to part (I have considered renaming it Moses rather than Mick). Go through a tunnel and a whole bunch of cars will slow down and slot in behind.<br><br>Also, it seems to appeal to all kinds of people who aren't car buffs purely because of the style. I reckon only a DB9 would get the same reaction. Best episode for me was coming back after paying for fuel, to find a half a german coach party had disembarqued to go over for a closer look at what they though might be an Aston. <br><br> <br>

<div><br></div><div>Devil Mode - like it! My son calls it the "Angry switch" and it's always on apart from the 1st 50m from my house at 0630 in the morning!</div>

Its on all the time apart from some boring motorway driving to and from work so steady eddie cruise control is good then
 
Devil Mode :) <div><br></div><div>Also have it on most of the time and just cruise on motorways..</div><div><br></div><div>One thing I am curious about is just how noisy it really is in city centres etc in devil mode?</div><div>Its kinda hard to really hear it in the car and never heard another giving it what for when I have been outside. Certainly seen peoples reactions to it! </div><div><br></div><div>Perhaps our soft top brothers might want to tell??</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
 
It's really really noisy - roof down it's definitely better and any reflective surface (wall/building) definitely magnifies it. Not quite as good as in a tunnel but definitely loud!
 
I'd love to be the bystander and hear it. Thing is put your foot down to hear it rumble in built up areas and you're already breaking the speed limit in 1st gear lol

more of the same experience here.<br /><br />I had 4 911's previously and whatever model I owned I only ever received positive approval from other 911 drivers. most people had an entirely negative reaction to me AND the car ALL the time.<br /><br />what a change I noticed when I had my last car- a polaris white 5 litre XKR with speed pack and black pack. everybody loved that car. I remember going to Le Mans 2 and a half years ago and parking in Arnage in a line of 911's , Bentleys and Astons and watching from a café across the road - the number of people who walked past much dearer cars to take pictures of my car was remarkable.<br /><br />I have had my F Type almost 3 months now and the reaction to the car has been exactly the same - very pleasing.<br /><br />I think people really seem to like sporty jaguars. long may it continue
 
Here Here!<div><br></div><div>Perhaps one reason it might get so much attention is that its still a new car where all others have been seen in one guise or another for years.</div><div><br></div><div>Range Rovers are ten a penny now and you would hardly bat an eye lid at them unless you were really looking and yet some of them are worth over 150k! </div><div><br></div><div>I even followed and F Pace yesterday (It looked great!) but it did just kinda look the same as the rest..</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>
 
Like timlaw I too am an ex 911 driver and know what it's like to be hated! Driving the Jag is a different world and I am loved again!
 
I've been referring to it as the Brian Blessed button. Imagine Brian being thrown of a balcony.............(but only in our imaginination Brian)..........and the ..... whaaaaaaaaaarrgghhhhh. Maybe Jaguar need to make him a brand ambassador for this car!<br>
 
On my first day of F-type ownership, just 3 weeks ago, I was out in the driveway detailing it and a neighbour who lives a few doors up stopped his car in the middle of the road, put the window down, and just couldn't stop saying how lovely the car was. Actually said congratulations!<div><br></div><div>I used to get a lot of looks in the two Lotus I've owned but there's definitely something different about the F-Type. People do seem to want to hear the soundtrack too!</div><div><br></div><div>I too had been wondering what it sounds like from the outside, and got the chance to hear when my wife and I were taking some family members out for runs in the car. It sounds good from the inside but, holy crap, it sounded biblical standing behind as she rev'd away and then lifted off!</div><div><br></div><div>All positive reactions so far and I'm sure it will continue!</div>
 
Interesting comments. There are a number of reasons why I keep wondering changing my Ferrari for an F type, but the one that holds me back is the feeling that the F type just isnt Special in the way that any Ferrari is. Yes the 911 is ordinary though no doubt there are times when that can be an advantage. But if there is any point at all in owning an expensive toy car on our traffic clogged camera encrusted roads, it has to be that the car feels special to the driver.<br><br>Mind you I know that the F type running costs arent so Special as the Ferrari ones <img src="http://www.ftypeforums.co.uk/images/converted_files/smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" alt="Cry" title="Cry" />!<br>

One of the ways the F-Type feels special was summed up nicely by a mate of mine yesterday when he saw mine for the first time ... a combination of what is it, is it new, I haven't seen one on the road before ... I went for an early drive this morning, saw several Porsches, a TVR & AMV8 and 2 Ferrari all enjoying the open roads ... I didn't see another F-Type ...<div></div><div></div>

<div><br></div><div>I think that Ferrari is probably in the bracket above the F-type in terms of special-ness; and if the SVR is in that bracket in terms of pricing I can't see how it can compete with say a 458 or a 430. My F-type feels more of an occasion than the 911 did though, and judging by the people that literally jumped when I did a cold start outside the sports club this morning others would agree too!</div>

Agree megatron, in the lightly-used @45-65k bracket its very special. Once you get into ferrari money not so much, although i do personaly prefer it to the Lamborghinis and Astons. <br /><br />The driver of a battered old people carrier taxi yesterday was so happy to see me i though he was going to bounce right out of his seat doing thumbs up, like an overgrown 5 year old :)
