Morning all,
On my 3rd FTYPE, current is a V8 p450 REIMS Edition, June 2021. 12k miles. From main dealer.
Previously had the v6 (not for very long) and p300 :|
Absolutely love the car, But….( you knew it was coming)
Had the car 8 weeks and after noticing a prominent groaning/whirling noise from the engine which was also prominent in the cabin I took the car back and a new supercharger/pulleys/belts were replaced (long back story) he said that once he took the belts off the supercharger the noise goes. Hence all the components replaced.
to recreate the issue I:
1) start the car up first thing on a morning (very cold at the mo and car is garaged)
2) put the car into D (in normal Drive Mode)
3) drive away
4) 2/3 mins later stop at junction or lights (stop start off)
5) can hear the car “whirling noise” in the cabin
6) further 5 min of driving and stopping at junctions etc engine is idling normal no noise in cabin
7) after initial journey noise doesn’t occur until car is left cold again (after a few hours/overnight)
Just to caveat this, when the master tech fitted the supercharger he then compared it to a new p450 and when both cars have the bonnet open you can hear the noise coming from both cars within the engine bay. It seems like it’s always there (so normal) just quieter once warm.
I’ve also you tubed quite a lot of engine idles from the F-type and you can hear the whiring/groan from the engine bay on all. My concern/confusion is should it be this prominent in the cabin?
Master tech said that they have checked a few cars and noise is there in the engine bay of others. They also sent me videos proving this.
They have told me to monitor.
Is it just because at the moment the weather is very cold and it’s the mechanics etc warming itself up?
Anyone else have this?
Can’t seem to upload any vids.
