Hi all,
Quite a specific question, but I've had the diff oil changed on my AWD P450 today at a main dealer, just as preventative maintenance.
Jaguar recommends BOT720, which my invoice (see below) says they've used for the front (part number ELR019727).
However, the invoice says they have also used a Land Rover diff oil for the rear (part number ETYK500010 on the invoice).
I believe the latter is the same viscosity (75w-90) but may not be recommended for locking diffs. Not sure if the V8 electronic diff is classed as 'locking' or not.
They say it's the right oil but I'm not convinced, and can't find any record of Jaguar recommending it.
It's a long shot but does anyone who's technical/maybe in the trade happen to know how interchangeable these diff oils are?
There are too many stories of premature rear diff failure for me to take any chances! Thanks.
