Your posts are normally so positive, what happened, did you burn the sausages on the BBQ?

I do agree though, companies such as Ford, Kia, Mazda, Toyota not expensive brands seem to get far better reliability than JLR and some other supposedly premium brands do, I don't think Mercedes are any better. Just so frustrating.

I just can't get as excited by anything in their ranges though and everytime I go into the garage and look at the F Type I forgive it for anything it may throw at me.
 
Cheer up Kaspa - only another couple of months to go on lockdown... That's a shed load of BBQ's 😉

Whatever the Jaguar may throw at you, you're owning a car that's so unlike the masses.
Oodles of character and looks that can't be beaten IMO.

Anything else would just seem lame.

As for buying a Mustang, some things are forgivable, however that IS worthy of a ban.....PHIL, PHIL! 😁

I have to put my hands up and say it did cross my mind a year ago when they wouldn't let me buy a new XE 380.
With all the Tesla/EV "superior" crowd droning on and on it does make you feel like giving them a blast of a V8 with a sign saying "Are you sure you are going to get there ?"
Disclaimer: I of course would have considered an F-Type V8 but need 4 seats as still doing the Dad's taxi thing.

Hello all

Back and all calm .. thick rose tinted glasses 🤓 back on, have started to look at some V8 F Types ..so expensive new though

But on a happy note I retire from Proctor & Gamble June 19th after 32 years service also luckily for me a final salary pension with defined benefits

Also managed to get My FTYpe booked in for its 3rd year service and 1st mot this Friday at Beadles Southend as I am classed as a critical worker :D

It seems that the last few days of sunshine has cleared my light up.
It is totally dry inside. My car is parked in the street so gets plenty of sun.
 
To the OP: Just FYI I had this issue on mine. I don't powerwash it or take it anywhere that does. Jaguar replaced it under warranty.

Ok, I'm a bit late to the party here but for what it's worth...

My early model XE Arseport had to have the high level brake light replaced, as did quite a few other XE's - there was a Technical Bulletin about it, similar to the one that exists for F-Type headlight condensation. If they didn't try so hard to seal the units with thermoplastic and rubber boots and such stuff they might actually be able to breathe a little. Maybe they need a 4x4 snorkel fitting to resolve the problem.

As for reliability, well you won't fare any better with an R8, M4 or many other such performance cars. I'm sticking with my F-Type and have probably had more warranty work done on it than anyone else on here - the list would be long and I don't want to give Kaspa a relapse ;) Ultimate performance is for track cars, but if you want something that looks stunning sounds awesome and makes you smile every time you drive it then name me a better car.

If, as I sincerely hope happens, the world comes out of this pandemic as a wake up call to save the planet and not be such a selfish generation, then we could well be the last generation to have the chance to experience such great driving thrills. So yes, kerbing your wheel or standard Jaguar "quality" of infotainment is both frustrating and annoying - but cars are for driving, and the best cars are a privilege to own and experience. So here's to many more smiles to the gallon when we get back on the roads.

Today I contacted Sturgess and Guy Salmon and was informed the part number is T2R18629

Interestingly Sturgess quoted £98.65 inc vat and Guy Salmon £101.62 inc vat for the same part, not much in it but I thought JLR parts prices would be the same?

In the mean time it’s dried out again so I’m in no rush to replace it just yet,
 
Yeah, it’s an annoyance more than anything and unlikely to do it very often once the cold starts to the morning are gone.
It’s when you see a car with one or more LEDs out that it looks naff.

...in the mean time If you get just the right amount in there you could use it as a spirit level when checking your oil ;)

Cost I have seen. Is the same as the prices below are excluding VAT.

Thanks yes that makes Guy Salmon price correct but Sturgess was a different price, I think they made a mistake, but like I said not much in it.

It’s dried out for now and it all lights up correctly so I’ll leave it for a while before I change the unit.

On an old car of mine that kept getting condensation in the headlights, the well known fix was to dry it out then apply clear glue, UHU for example, around all the seams. Could this help in your case?
 
Thanks I might try that, I’ll remove and inspect it for any obvious cracks first and then yes run a waterproof sealer around the seams, if it still persists a new unit is not expensive anyway,

Reviving an old thread here sorry.... Is this an easy DIY job to replace this brake light? I have downloaded the PDF someone attached, thank you. Step 2... The removal of 6 nuts is this easy to do, or hard to get at? I'm not with my car at the moment. I asked Jaguar Saltash for a quote to replace this light:

The light itself is £109.93 plus VAT
Two hours Labour to replace at £149.50 plus VAT per hour
£490.71 inclusive.
