Car check - I've partly done it

Thinking of viewing this car as it has most of the specs I'd like, it is a MY19 V6 380.

I've so far looked at the service history (VIN was in their photos and I think I copied it correctly).

My main thought is lots of details on what was done but doesn't mention rear diff oil so I'll ask about that, anything else obvious from the below?

Reg (I think) is now OV68 MHE. From photos it used to be on N77 JKP.

Screenshot of the service history from the vin is:

It should have been done at three years, also no mention of brake fluid change but owner may have passed on that element and had it done elsewhere or maybe just tested themselves and considered not required? MOT history is fine, bar a failure for a wiper blade. It’s not done heavy miles if going ahead would get it done now.

Yes you have the original plate correct.

Yes it is car 60395 MY19 spec.

The service history is missing rear diff oil at 4 years and spark plugs at 5 years.

MHA to MHX was a batch of Corris Grey in various P300, V6 and V8 guises. This was ran by C Walton so would of been used for something Jaguar or fleet related, serviced by fleet provide and then they go to closed BCA private JLR auction with a description which includes any repairs and one of three categories.

1) Ex Corporate Repurchase
A Jaguar/Land Rover vehicle previously owned by a vehicle rental company or allocated to a fleet available to JLR partners.
Possible multiple users.

2) Ex Jaguar Internal Fleet
A Jaguar/Land Rover vehicle previously allocated to a fleet available to JLR customers and partners.
Possible multiple users.

3) Ex Jaguar Management
A Jaguar/Land Rover vehicle previously allocated to an individual employee.

This is the gap between the fleet provider doing the first service and the new/used prep for sale. Cannot find any trace of who had it or used it first.

Thanks, it is appreciated. I now realise if I'd searched here for C Walton then I'd have seen about the potential track days / fleet etc.

I've done a Google image search (as per one of your previous posts) and nothing dodgy comes up for the reg so may mean fleet rather than track day.

I've also checked the approved used link you posted on my other thread and it is there so should at least get the 1 year extended warranty.

Therefore I'm left with the thought of a fleet / rental car for 1 year and how I feel about that, plus if a warranty now will make up for any missuse 4.5 years ago that hasn't already been fixed.

Will have to sleep on that

FYI, I decided against that one, the potential for misuse early on combined with the lack of evidence on rear diff oil change meant there was a risk of damage (I called them and they said it would have been done if due, honest,
but had no evidence !), plus my lack of knowledge means I might not have noticed during warranty period. So currently saying no.

Tomorrow I'm test driving a 2020 v8 just for comparison (think I want the v6 380 or 400 but will see after tomorrow). If it becomes serious I'll ask you guys about history etc

Quick question, am I correct that the DRL issue doesn't affect the post face-lift thinner lights of the 2020 onwards?

Correct. The DRL LED issue does not affect the old Xenon lights or the newer thinner ones.

So today I tested the my21 v8 440 and also a my18 v6 400 sport. Personally I really liked the v8, and I really liked the colour (bluefire).

On getting home I checked the service history of the v8 (OV20 VFO) using the vin and got some concern, so questions are:

1) He said it still has a Jag warranty as the previous owner took out a 5 year warranty. Do I need to phone Jag to check if that is true?
2) The v5 said 1 previous owner, but my search shows it was PDId by Paragon Fleet solutions, then serviced by C Walton. From what I've read of SimpleR posts it seems Paragon isn't always bad but then going to C Walton means it may have been track day?? Am I correct of that red flag? (I've also found the reg on a car bloggers site)
3) When asking about rear diff oil change, the dealer said the rear diff was changed under warranty, I can't see it in the service record below but is there another way of checking that? (Note that the below says 1 service missing but I saw a paper copy of the most recent service).

I would personally avoid any cars that have come through JLR “ex management” or “fleet” or “corporate” my experience is with “ex management” and experience was not good I’m sure some “ex management” are great cars but 🤷🏻‍♂️
C Walton doesn’t mean track day ( see explanation from SimpleR on this thread) could be “ex management” from what I seen “ex management” is effectively a car leased to a Jaguar employee it can then be used by family members etc.
on the warranty I think Jaguar extends a year at a time after 3 years, Jaguar offer 2 warranties limited or full cover, or the warranty maybe an aftermarket one warrantywise or the like

OV20 VF was a batch of Jaguar cars used for various events.
OV20VFO was a test car used by magazines, this one was loaned to mens health blog and magazine and associates.

Thanks again, I loved the colour of that one but in reality I would worry that I wouldn't notice if it had been previously mistreated until too late.

From your list of event registrations, OV20 VEA is very close to your list, is that also a concern? It is a BRG v8 currently available.

Screenshot_20240814_192953_Chrome.jpgSimpleR,

On the above OV20VEA, I was concerned it was very close to your list of cars used for events/press. I got the VIN and sure enough it was first PDId by Paragon Fleet so similar to the last one I asked about, though it seems to have only done 1800 miles with them before going back to a jag dealer.

Do you have any insight into its first use, in case that alleviates my concern? It didn't come up for me on an image search.

The BRG one I’ve had my eye on, but from the photos it’s got some hefty bolster wear on the drivers side for the mileage, looked at a similar car back in May @ 48k so they’ve dropped a bit!

Just checked another one on autotrader and the service history again shows PDI by Paragon then 1st service by C Walton - 4 out of 4 of the ones I've checked have been one of those two companies.

Starting to wonder if Jag actually sold any direct to the public!!!

Sorry, just venting, I'll get over it!

I think I've found a good one this time so interested to hear thoughts. Having previously tested the p450 I fell in love and realised I had to dig further into my wallet.

Reg WM21 AUE. I plan on test driving this weekend.

It failed its last MOT due to a bulge on the rear tyre which was then replaced - I've checked and no damage to the wheel so hopefully just a glance of the tyre.

Service history below, all items seem to have been done. 2nd and therefore 3rd year services were late (now 6 months behind) but the rear diff oil was done at year 3 instead of year 4 so at least that isn't late.

I'm assuming the 3 month delay between pdi and warranty start was just it sat on forecourt prior to selling?

This is good information. I think it covers a car I've looked at online, OV20VFH, a Portofino blue P450 with 16,000 miles. Looks OK externally but the glossy trim around the gear lever and switches has several chips, and the little coin tray on the left looks like it's been levered out with a screwdriver. Suggests this was a press/events car and has had a hard life. I'll give it a miss.
