Car Check (please?) and R-Dynamic Spec Help!

Hi Forum Members,

I'm looking at buying a V6 F Type Coupe and have found one i like the look of at a local independent garage (Not a jag specialist but has a long history and good local rep). I understand there are people on here that can get insider information on car history from people in high places if anyone can find out anything on reg WM18 DSX (it was on a private plate until 6 weeks ago) then that would be very helpful. It has done 63,000 miles with a mixed main dealer / non dealer history.

I've had a good look round the car and there are a few little annoying bits like the bonnet alignment and the drivers door being very stiff to unlatch, are these just milage related niggles that can be adjusted or should i be worried that this car has been rebuilt at some point?

My main gripe is that tax, insurance and log book all list the car as being an R-Dynamic model but i can't for the life of me find any R-Dynamic bits on it. No badges, no sill plates, no side skirts, no external bits etc. Is this just a very low spec R design model where they didn't option anything or is this a sign that bits have been changed or taken off the car at some point? Would a main dealer be able to tell me exactly what the car came with when new? I'm not worried about having a car plastered in extra badges i'm just suspicious at the lack of them on this one. The only badge it has is a very out of place looking 'supercharged' badge on the back which i've never seen on any F type regardless of age or spec. I am aware that the car has had window surrounds wrapped and calipers painted.

PS if anyone knows of any 2017+ V6 Coupes below the £30,000 mark please feel free to make any recommendations!

Regards,
Oliver

Here's what it used to look like around four years ago

All MoT's passed with no advisories. Aftermarket window tints, and refurbished wheels and brake calipers. 'Supercharged' badge looks like it's from an XF...?

Nice looking car. Silver is a surprisingly rare colour and those are also IMHO among the best looking wheels. Almost looks like a 400 sport.

Mine has R-Dynamic on the door sills but otherwise the only place it said R-Dynamic was an R-Dynamic badge at the back of the car which I quickly got rid of. This car has clearly been debadged and that Supercharged badge which never came with the F-Types was fitted.

A misaligned bonnet is very common, nothing to worry about and can be adjusted. Many if not most F-Types came with misaligned bonnets from the factory. The driver's door is probably also nothing to worry about. I'm not aware of any cases where it's very hard to unlatch but my driver door mechanism started creaking and needed some lubrication and this could be a similar issue.

A main dealer or Jaguar customer service can provide the factory build sheet.

Considering Kev's post the brake calipers have been pimped, the wheels have been repainted, the chrome has been blacked and the much better shrouded black pack bonnet vents have been fitted.

If you go ahead, as with all these 1st facelift cars with LED headlights - take a close look at the passenger side DRL.

4 previous owners. Previous plates were
D1NAW
P25JSH
74PHY
and more recently M6XRC

It is an MY18 P340 R-Dynamic which appears to have been de-badged and addition of wheel refurb in 400 sport colour and erroneous supercharger badge.

Service history here.

I saw in the old spec list from Kev's post that it has illuminated treadplates which might explain why it doesn't say R-Dynamic on them. I guess they never bothered to produce the illuminated versions in R-Dynamic form. There doesn't seem to be any doubt that it's an R-Dynamic, which anyhow shouldn't really matter because R-Dynamic was just a rather pointless badging thing similar to BMW's M-Sport and Audi's S-Line packages.

Interesting that it has a West Country reg identifier (WM) but the PDI was done by a dealer in Peterborough.

I wonder if it was done through the Defence Discounts scheme, as the main branch for that was the Marshall dealer in Peterborough, but you didn't have to collect the car from there. Just a possibility.

Thank you all so much for your speedy advice! I think de badging and the upgraded door sills probably explains it. I’ll keep head scratching, lots of beige flags on this one tho.

Regards.
