Battery - Covered under manufacturers warranty?

Hi,

I called the customer care line this morning as yesterday, I had to have a battery replaced which was 3 years and 2 days old (yes, just 2 days after the new car warranty had expired). I understand that the battery is not covered under the extended warranty but thought I would ask to see if there was any goodwill as the battery had been failing for a week or so (well before the warranty end).

They stated that the battery was not covered under the manufacturers 3 year warranty which is a different message from the JLR assist technician who said that it was.

Would prefer some clarity here.

Car registration J13 AEF (and one of 2 Jaguars and 1 Range Rover at the same address!!!!)

The manufacturers warranty covers anything that fails within 3 years due to a manufacturing defect which is why consumables such as tyres and brake pads aren't covered.

With regard to batteries I suppose it's down to interpretation of whether they're considered to be a consumable. As batteries can be used differently by different owners it doesn't help in this 'grey area'.

It's certainly worth escalating to the JLR warranty department.

Try calling Customer Care back again. You will likely get a different rep on the phone and you may get a different answer. I have done that several times with different companies and gotten different answers each time I called.

I would expect that the battery would be covered if it has failed with dead cells. The battery in our Nissan was at 2yrs old.

Have you tried jaguar assist

I just had a o2 sensor replaced yesterday all under extended warranty
did not cost me penny
