2013 V6 Convertible

One of the reasons why I’m nervous about buying ones without full history……

If you're looking to put a warranty on the car you're buying you'll need to check how old they accept cars on to the scheme. If you want an Official Jaguar Warranty you'd be better off buying from a
Jaguar main dealer.

True…..but then I would really pay through the nose for both the car and the warranty.

Besides my budget doesn’t stretch to main dealer prices unfortunately as I agree that would be the way to go👍

I believe the phrase is .............. "You can't have it both ways". ;)

Private sale best for you.

Either that or increase the budget, start to compromise on things - model, extras, service history,, take a risk with no warranty, etc.

Aside that you have to hope that having your cake and eating it is possible..

Find a decent independent you can trust and you can keep it on the road for less than the warranty premiums, unless you're very unlucky with the car. That's my experience, anyway.

i think Madpig56 is after it every way :)

To be honest, I’m just apprehensive because so far I’ve always managed to buy new but that said they weren’t Jags!!

However, a new Jaguar even on PCP is totally out of the question to a more senior animal like myself.

I’m hoping to be able to make a decision over the weekend as I’m leaning favourably towards the AWD one I saw on Wednesday.

It’s a bit more than I wanted to pay but it is a 16 plate and the dealership seemed genuine as far as I could tell. OK, so I know there were a couple of things which needed doing but they didn’t complain and said they would do them. I’ve checked all their online reviews and they seem to have a good rep so maybe it’s time to take the plunge…..👍

I just need to check this other one out tomorrow as it’s about £2k cheaper and a year older but pretty similar mileage so worth a look.

Understand it’s not your spec but just an example of what’s out there. Could’ve posted another dozen examples. 2016 minter with 23k miles & FJSH.

I’d transfer the money without even viewing.

Agreed; it sounds perfect but just one snag……a private sale will not take a part exchange.

And I can’t afford to shell out £27k without part exchanging my current car.

Why can’t you sell it to any of the well known We buy.., Motorway, etc. trading companies?
Run the maths as it surprising when you compare dealer with trade in, to sell and buy how much better the net price can be. Just a bit more inconvenient to line up the 2 step process. Arrange own finance which is easy if required.

the issue is web sites, the f type is a good car in most ways, if every body who had one posted you would see the good results, we only tend to post issues which in the bigger picture are small in number, a great car

I am going to have another look at the 2016 AWD one tomorrow morning and if it still looks good I’m 90% certain that I’m going to have it!

Or maybe not……just checked their website and someone else has bought it so I guess I won’t!!

You have to be quick when you find The Right One. Good luck with the continuing search!

Before you rush off to view consider why it wasn't serviced for more than the first 3 years of it's life and what caused all the MOT issues of cracked tyres, deteriorated ball joint covers, pitted or worn front disks, rear brake pads worn, etc., all at low mileage points to what should be expected for normal use.

On the upside a good recent service history and had the belts changed, but no plug changes listed in nearly 10 years..

I checked it out yesterday and there’s no mention of any MOT issues apart from windscreen wipers not clearing the screen.

There’s also a huge wodge of paperwork confirming the on line history plus other facts like plugs were changed in 2020. Strange how they weren’t listed on the online forms but they were done…..I saw the receipt.

However, I didn’t drive it because I was disappointed that it didn’t have a heated front screen and “old type” nav. Is the 2013/14 nav as good as the 2015/2016 and can it be updated?

Just wondering now whether I was too hasty as everything else seemed to stack up and the price was ok……
